Are others called to Pastor?

In most church orgs, there are limited opportunities to Pastor considering that most church orgs are 1 pastor per church generally.

There are generally 2 ways to become Pastor. take over a church or start a new one. But I wonder how many others have the calling to Pastor but not the opportunity? Everyone is talking about restoring a Pastor to his "job" after falling but why not allow someone else to Pastor?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

"A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men." Poverb 18:16

If God called you to pastor and you accept the call, you will one day pastor. I don't believe God would call people for their gift to be wasted.

Re: Are others called to Pastor?

At my church, we have a:

Pastor
Associate Pastor
Spanish Pastor
Student Pastor
Worship Pastor
Childrens Director (Pastor)

Yes, there are and should be several different avenues in one particular church.

Yeah....that verse has nothing to do with offices or callings.

It's talking about a gift someone might bring before a dignitary

Re: Are others called to Pastor?

If a person has a "calling" they best make sure they are in the right place, because they can sit and rot if they're not. I have seen it wayyyyyyyyy too many times.

Re: Are others called to Pastor?

It depends on the definition of pastor.

Re: Are others called to Pastor?

I think when God calls a person and gives them the Holy Ghost, there is a work for him/her.

My question is why are we 'paying' people to do a work for Christ?

Re: Are others called to Pastor?

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

(I Timothy 3:3)

Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

(I Timothy 3:8)

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

(Titus 1:7)

Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

(Titus 1:11)

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

(I Peter 5:2)

If a person is in full time ministry he should get paid.
How else is he going to put food on the table?
