It was like they didn't know how to reach a balance. They did attend a church in New York City though - a black Spirit filled group and they seemed to like it.

It did remind me of the way a lot of people act when they first leave UPC. It's like they swing over to the extremes and get goofy.
I wonder if this is the show you are thinking of. It almost sounds to me like you are thinking of Breaking Amish, which I do not like. It seems pretty fakey and these people REALLY go off the edge.

In Out of Order, the boys are drinking and going too far, that is true. So far, I have seen only one girl who left and I am very impressed with her. She is keeping some morals and just seems like a really good person.

I agree when many of them leave they go off the deep end. Those are also the ones they love to show on TV. I think there are also many who do not, just like there are both kinds that leave the UPC. Yes, some do go very off the deep end...

Re: Amish: Out of Order

My theology was put into a tailspin when I realized speaking in tongues doesn't mean you are saved. Pentecostals believe you aren't saved until speak in tongues.

For me, I had a REAL experience with all of this so I assumed everyone else did too. Finally, I figured out that you don't have to have a real experience at all to be accepted into the Apostolic/Pentecostal church and that many DON'T! They just do what the preacher says and they are "in". Sad.

TV1a that is a broad brush your using, not even all Oneness Pentecostals believe that and for sure the Trinitarian Pentecostal churches don't hold to that belief and are still Pentecostal.

Not every Democrat supports abortion, but if you call yourself a Democrat, expect people to label you as a baby killer supporter. If you identify yourself as a oneness pentecostal, you have to speak in tongues to be saved.

You could be right. I didn't realize there was more than one show like this!

HEY! You know me! (sort of)

I never believed that, and certainly have known others as well.

Okay, you are one of the rare ones. I never knew any that I didn't meet on the internet. All the ones that may have been that way back in the day were closeted, at least to me. The preaching and shouting was all geared towards 3 steppin' and tongues speakin'.

Re: Amish: Out of Order

Just to keep things in perspective... Ten years ago Talmage French documented 23 Million (I think that is the number) Oneness Pentecostals in the world...

I think it's safe to say, of these, three steppers are a minority.

Lighten up peeps! Just because someone is baptized in Jesus Name, and believes tongues have not ceased, does not mean they reject salvation by faith alone, and justification by faith. Nor does it follow that they reject all other Christians and look for heaven to be a massive UPC General Conference. LOL!
