I remember living in a small town on the Ohio river, on the KY side, when I was small. (5ish) We had no morning service on Sunday, because most members had dairy cows, and so we had Bible Class (SS) on saturday Night. I liked it! LOL They also had Sunday evening service- again, scheduled around the milking times...
Ok, but I'm keeping my "The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." sticker. I lover irritating all the Marxist teachers here.
Deacon, I can't place you but it sounds like we went to the same church as youth. I often wondered about Sunday, "a day of rest?" Not where I attended.
I guess it takes that much church to keep some of the Pentecostals indoctrinated! And while we're on this subject, let me change it a bit. Why is it that when Pentecostals are praying around the altar the facial expressions are ones of agony, pain, hurt and not happiness and joy for the most part?

Ya, when we attended people even joked "We have to get ready for our 'day of rest'!" and everyone laughed because it was obvious how busy Sunday's were with a 2 hour Sunday morning service and a 2 1/2 - 3 hour Sunday night along with an hour of choir practice in the middle. And then these 5 awkward hours in between.
Nope. Guess again. (And it wasn't a funeral, either. )
Potluck.

In fact I think that the insinuation of "hateful" Pentecostals is coming mostly from the fertile imaginations of bitter, backslidden ex Apostolics who are constantly trying to find a way to justify their actions. ~ strait shooter
Actually, no. There was a lunch after the service, but not pot luck. And it's not why I went. Was visiting my folks in CA, and they hadn't been able to go in about six months. Tried a few times, but just getting ready to go wore them out so they stayed home. So I helped them. Lunch was good, too.
