The most bothersome thing about these conversations (to me): If homosexuality is a sin (and I believe it is, according to scripture), then teaching that a person who engages in this particular sin is in good standing with God is not only a lie, but shows a lack of true concern for the sinner. Sin leads to destruction, and sexual sin is particularly destructive. It destroys the body, it destroys the mind and it erodes the human spirit. There is no compassion in the thought process that leaves homosexuals in their sin. None. The truth is what makes us free.
There is more value found in following God's laws than simply the satisfaction of obeying them. His laws have our best interests and fulfillment in mind.
That's a big "if"!

Sounds true, but it seems that for the most part, people don't know how to show love and have compassion to help the sinners turn away from their sins (lusts, temptations etc.,) and help show them a way out, without befriending them, acting as if their sins is alright before God. By the same token, people who say that they hate sin, wind up actually hating the sinner, acting as if it's their fault that the devil is tempting them with these things.
For the record, I believe homosexuality is a sin along with adultery and fornication. Each require a conscious choice to act on natural temptations.
I believe one has no choice of sexual attraction. As much as one may WANT to change this, they can not! They may try to change friends, move to another city, or do drastic things (including brainwashing), but in rare cases does their attraction change for long periods of time. It may work for a short period, but eventually water finds it's own level.
It's like trying to change one's DNA. One may try a complete blood infusion, and even cut off their legs and replace them with prosthetic legs, but it won't change their DNA without a miracle taking place.

Um...did you just contradict yourself? You can't do it of yourself of course, but you can resist it, but it takes Jesus to actually deliver you (a miracle taking place)
And what about pedophiles, or people with murdering, serial killer tendencies? You saying that God can't turn them away from these strong desires and deliver them?

I also believe there are some who DO make a choice, as they are attracted to both sexes. Of course, God can do anything! For some reason, for almost all, he chooses to do nothing. Some have even committed suicide when God chose not to change them. They wanted to change so bad, but they felt God chose to abandon them!

Is there an echo in here! *smile*
I have a class I have to teach in a few minutes, so I'll address this later.
