Re: Unnecessary scriptures
No one I repeat no one is saved at repentance. There is only ONE wasy to be saved obey Acts 2:38. No one is saved who has not been baptised in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost. Then on MUSt live a separated life of holiness.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I'm confused... perhaps you haven't read these scriptures?
Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, THOU SHALT BE SAVED."
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord SHALL BE SAVED."
Where is the mention in either of those verses of your above interpretation?
Some other verses also come to mind about salvation:
Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved THROUGH FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Then Paul mentions in 1 Cor. 15 about the gospel he has preached. Nowhere does he mention any of the "extras" in there such as hair, clothing, jewelry etc....
Read 1 Cor. 15:1-9 vs 3-4 "Moreover brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you... For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" ...
Just wondering why he didn't mention here the hair cutting, beard wearing, jewelry laden, makeup covered doctrines here as part of his gospel?

Hmm... really, this verse should have been rewritten by our dear OP friends...
I can't imagine why it is in the scriptures, it really should have said "whosoever believeth in him with correct doctrines" should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (NKJV)

Re: Unnecessary scriptures
With all this easy believism these scriptures are grossly out of whack perhaps we should get a new Bible where these scriptures won't be a problem!
James Chapter 2
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

The Mormons have the same idea. I have had many in my front room telling me that works is the only way into heaven and that I am heading to hell.
I am not calling you a Mormon.
Good works and standards are not the same thing.

Didn't think you were & no, it isn't the same thing.
Abraham believed God correct? He proved that faith was true by obedience.
I believe God when he says to repent--I bring forth fruits for repentence.
I believe God whe says to be Baptized--I am baptized.
I believe God when he says to receive the Holy Ghost--I receive the Holy Ghost.
I believe God when he says be ye holy, for I am holy--I cleanse myself from all filthiness of the flesh & spirit.
It ain't complicated--if you have faith--you will have works by your obedience.
I could go into a 10 page disertation but this is the Ron's notes version.
