Sorry.
How many preachers these days
use Warren's sermons instead
of being led by the Holy Spirit?

I wouldn't know as I'm not a student of Rick Warren. Obvisouly you must be to know when he is being quoted???

Nothing wrong with posting quotes on facebook or RT (re-tweet) quotes on Twitter. I follow quite a few different ministers on Twitter and if they tweet something that I feel is good for me and I want to share with others, I'll RT it.
Now, there's a huge difference between re-posting someone's Facebook status or RT someone's tweet online, and using someone's quote as a basis or subject of a message. Again, nothing wrong with even throwing a quote in that relates to the message -- no matter who it's by.
I'm not a fan of Rick Warren, Saddleback, Bill Hybels, or Willow Creek...but I'm also not against using a good quote that comes from those sources.

What's wrong with quoting someone else as long as they are speaking truth? Writers in the Bible quoted each other...... even Jesus quoted Moses.....I guess it just depends on whether you think the Pentateuch was considered "Scripture" back in Jesus' time..........

Re: A Rick Warren quote!
Rick Warren's books are filled with oodles
of religious jibber-jabber that would appease any heathen.
Every once and awhile there is some truth quoted.
Satan does the same thing: Quote some truth to appease.
The only one a pastor needs to quote is Jesus Christ.

So, you're saying a pastor should NEVER include any quotes from anywhere else in his sermon, other than the Bible? Not even Abraham Lincoln, or Thomas Edison, etc?

Re: A Rick Warren quote!
Yes, I DID say that.
A pastor cannot go wrong quoting Jesus Christ and others FROM the Bible.
There's no need quoting Lincoln or Edison, etc.
Why quote a guy who publicly “apologized to his homosexual friends for making comments in support of California's Proposition-8 (a same-sex marriage ban).
Instead of taking a Biblical stand against homosexuality, Warren apologizes to his homosexual “friends.”
"Christian Celebrities" are quoted way to often, and before we know it we get sucked into
satan's camp and desensitized.

I know some UPC ministers who believe this way. They also preach against using anything other than the KJV Bible and other weird things.
I agree, you can't go wrong quoting the Bible. But it's not bad, wrong, or sinful to simply re-post a quote you like on FB, Twitter, or use it in a message. I've heard very few messages that didn't include SOME kind of non-Bible quote - whether a popular phrase, or quote by a secular/religious person.

Re: A Rick Warren quote!
Blissful day. You don't like that people quote RW because you don't like RW.
Paul quoted philosophers. Jesus told stories. They should have just quoted Torah and the Prophets.

That's right. Paul quoted Menander in 1 Corinthians 15:33, Epimenides in Acts 17:28 and Titus 1:12.
