Where does the bible say you have to test what you have? I believe if you have a spiritual gift it will work through you to minister to someone's need. The gift isn't about you.

However, if done one on one... people want to criticize? Since I'm a house churcher... individual prophesies are quite common.

There is ministry within a house church (what I would call a BIBLICAL church), and then there are ye olde 'parking lotte prophesies' which can step onto thin ice...

I'm not meaning to be insulting, I just had to find an excuse to post a pic of one of my favorite Dr Who characters before Randy beat me to the punch.

Then why are so many of us thrown out of churches when our gift begins to develop?

How about going to the church to edify one another like Paul said?

I never said "stuff". I said deeper "spiritual realities". For example, getting the Holy Ghost is a deeper spiritual reality than religion. Praying in tongues and then experiencing interpretation is a deeper spiritual reality. There are so many things we are not seeking... that are ours by spiritual birthright.
|
Aquila I see a big HOLE in what you are saying. You seem to be seeking experiences. Seeking a sign...What happened to seeking God? Get close to Him. The gifts are for edifying the body not having an experience

Amen. Maybe you've been mentored enough in the Lord to understand how to deal with impressions that the Spirit gives you about people. For some of us... it makes us hate crowds. Exhausts us. And causes us to question things. We've never had a strong prophet of God willing to teach us what we're experiencing.
|
Let me give you an example of a specific. I was praying for a brother I had not seen in months about his situation. I "felt" impressed with something but wondered if it was God.
I then felt "impressed" that to verify this when I got home he would be on the phone with my roomie
Well when I walked through door he was on the phone with my roomie. That's specific. And what I told him wasn't some generalities about his life (a reading) but specific instructions on what he needed to do.
Like I said, these general "readings", psychics have been doing for years and in a good sized sample they will always get a hit

What gift? Like I said it sounds like a psychic reading to me. Being thrown out of church is not evidence that what is going on is genuine

Re: Testing Your Spiritual Gifts:
Here's one instance that was shockingly specific. I even emailed the conversation to a trusted friend. I was shocked at what unfolded...
Me: "I can't shake the name "Michael", "Mike", or "Mark"... or something beginning with an M. Maybe not his name but someone close. Feeling a lot of confused emotions surrounding his passing. The emotions are stable now. I'm feeling something about a child, feels like a nephew. Might be a younger sibling, but first impression wasn't one of direct blood relationship. Not very clear yet."
Karen: "is actually in Australia, but she will get back to you with some feedback as soon as she can hun ~Admin~"
Jessica: "My mum is Tracy. She is probably still sleeping right now. I will let her know you have responded. My heart smiled when I read you message!"
Tracy: "Hi Christopher, Yes his name is Michael, Mike was what loved ones called him. His dad's name is also Michael and my brothers name is Mark. There is one nephew in the family not blood related (his step sisters daughter) . There was a lot of emotions around his passing with people blaming them selves. I wont go into too much detail yet in case you can receive more info but will say it was no suicide." All I had to go on was a picture posted by a woman I never met .... that lives in Australia. Specific enough?
Now... she thinks I'm a medium. LOL But... if God has a word for this family... I'll give it. I'm still praying.

No, no, no. Not thrown out over some alleged psychic reading. Thrown out over the ability to preach, hear from God, receive visions, and discern spirits.
