Further, he was not wrong in calling out the gentleman in the video room. Those young people hanging out up there should have been sitting in the congregation, not up there. The young man falling asleep has apparently done this before to merit that correction, but it was not overly severe, and I have heard of far more severe corrections because of it.

The full video is also posted, not this rather pathetic hit job. Pastors used to do far more correction, and had the respect of their people too. You can not discipline a goat.
Surely you jest??? What is pathetic is this kind of pastoring or parents that parent in this manner. I give no value to it whatsoever. Further it is spiritual abuse, and the problems he has is due to that manner of "pastoring".

Agreed, however, anyone who really believes all of the bible should have no problem with what this pastor is doing, considering the words of Paul (or whoever really wrote 1Timothy) "Them that sin, REBUKE BEFORE ALL, that others may also fear." So, surely Jay does not jest--he merely believes the bible.

Re: "Pastor" throws hissy fit

Actually it was talking about Elders who sin

1Ti 5:19 Do not accept an accusation against an elder unless it can be confirmed by two or three witnesses.
1Ti 5:20 Those guilty of sin must be rebuked before all, as a warning to the rest.
1Ti 5:21 Before God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, I solemnly charge you to carry out these commands without prejudice or favoritism of any kind

Being sleepy in church is not a sin

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

If you suppose it is ONLY the elders Paul had in view, why is it necessary for you to then defend this "regular member" who would of course be beyond the scope of Paul's command?

If however, the admonition to "rebuke openly that others may fear" applies to all visible sin, then "sleepiness in church" is obviously not this pastor's primary criticism. But rather he was rebuking a condition of wider disobedience, as in, "Obey them that have the rule over you, for they watch for you soul."

How about an example of Paul using this method.

I never labeled it "a method." However, Paul's coworker Peter perhaps demonstrates the concept in a big way here,

"Why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied unto men but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these words."

Are you saying that Paul didn't practice what he preached?

To note that someone is being as stubborn as a donkey/mule-and if you've never owned one (I own two) they can be stubborn without any and beyond all reason... It's like calling someone a caveman when they act all troglodyte... It's a descriptive... While IMO to call someone moron, retarded, stupid, etc. is often done in an attempt to appear to make a negative assessment of someone's intelligence based not on fact but simply as a way to discredit their views by saying in essence that if they do not see it the way you see it they must not be as smart as you.

In my opinion Jack____ is based on an honest assessment of how one sees another, while those other terms are often simply ways to discredit another.
