To note that someone is being as stubborn as a donkey/mule-and if you've never owned one (I own two) they can be stubborn without any and beyond all reason... It's like calling someone a caveman when they act all troglodyte... It's a descriptive... While IMO to call someone moron, retarded, stupid, etc. is often done in an attempt to appear to make a negative assessment of someone's intelligence based not on fact but simply as a way to discredit their views by saying in essence that if they do not see it the way you see it they must not be as smart as you.
In my opinion Jack____ is based on an honest assessment of how one sees another, while those other terms are often simply ways to discredit another.
