My wife bought me a wine making kit years ago and I never used it. Me thinks the beginning mixture that came with it has long since gone bad.

Bourbon on the other hand would be ready in 5-10 years, assuming I started it 10 years ago. LOL

Re: How to Save Money

Find all your credit cards etc. You can do this one of two ways. You can find the one with the highest interest and pay off that one first putting a little bit extra on every month or you can take the smallest one and put extra on that and pay that off first.

The first way pays off higher interest first, the second way helps you psychologically because it's an incentive to get the easiest ones paid off and gotten rid of. If you do whatever is best for you, you will be moving forward!

I wouldn't be going back to that restaurant. I would call the manager and tell him too (in a nice way) of course...

I also order a senior drink at some fast food restaurants and it will be reduced or free.

If you do have to pay full price at a fast food, order the one on the $1 menu and get it refilled. I have seen people order the big drinks and in my mind I am thinking - order the small and get refilled free. Some of the fast food places let you refill your own.

Someone mentioned Aldi's. They have real good prices on most items. I think their canned goods (peas, g.beans, corn and etc) are 49 cents. I don't particularly care for their meat.

Re: How to Save Money

I always order water....it's cheaper and soda is SO bad for you.

Years ago, I would have looked at my above grocery list and said "I can save more than that!" and I could have, but, as you can see, some things are there for health. Health is priceless.

Re: How to Save Money

So, this last weekend, my husband and I went on a weekend get-away. We usually do this every fall. Our birthdays are both in October, so we celebrate. Here is what it cost.

Hotel, found on Priceline $40.00 a night plus taxes= $100.00

I found a ton of birthday coupons online and here is what we ate. It took me about 3 hours to get all these coupons and print out maps from our hotel to the restaurants. Here are the costs with rounded numbers and tips:

1. Old Country Buffet Buy One Get One $12.00

Walked around mall-free. 2 one minute chair massages $2.00

2. IHOP birthday breakfast and regular priced breakfast $12.00

3. Skipped Lunch after that huge breakfast. 1 1/2 hour cruise on a river $34.00- 10% coupon found online and then went hiking afterwards (free)= $30.60

4. Restaurant.com coupon. I bought a bunch of these on sale for $2.00 for $25.00 of and they can be transferred and never expire. Very fancy dinner with live music and $20.00 entrees. $27.00

5. Went back to hotel and then later got Dairy Queen Blizzards, Buy One Get One Free Birthday Coupon. $4.00

6. Next Day Breakfast Dennys 20% off coupon. We split a $9.99 huge breakfast. So, with tip it was $10.00

7. Went to a Pioneer and Indian Museum and took a couple of tours. $16.00

8. Bought my kids a couple of little fun gifts $7.00

9. Had another BOGO coupon for Old Country Buffet, the meal was so goo we did it again but this coupon required a drink purchase. $14.50

10. Watched some awesome hot air balloons on the way home. Free

11. About 318 miles traveled in our car that gets 68 miles to the gallon with gas at $3.29= $15.00 for gas.

So, $250.00 for a weekend of fun including gifts and gas!

In order to do this, a person has to go to a metropolitan area where priceline hotels and restaurants have a lot of competition.

LOL! No, We got 20% off of 9.99 so we tipped her $2.00 (or it may have been $2.50, hard to remember exactly). We try to tip 15% give or take a little bit.

Sheesh, Margies! I'm a little insulted!
