Must have either ignored the search results or didn't search for the right thing.
I googled "people eat more at a buffet" and had several hits from various websites.
"Research shows that
when faced with a variety of food at one sitting, people tend to eat more. It is the temptation of wanting to try a variety of foods that makes it particularly hard not to overeat at a buffet," says Rachel Begun,a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics."
That's one quote used on several articles found with the search. Again, common sense should tell you this. Of course, what does she know, right?!
"According to a recent review of related literature in the Psychological Bulletin, one study reported that subjects given a varied four-course meal ate 44% more food and 60% more calories than subjects given only one food for each of the four courses."
"It’s no secret that we’re all tempted to overeat when given a choice between a variety of foods. The message is clear: Stay away from the buffets!"
It's no secret because it's common sense!
