Re: Facts, Lies or Truth About Healthy Living?

Soaked and sprouted grains are super important. Soaking and sprouting breaks down the phytic acid while allowing enzymes and nutrition levels to increase.

My wife has an awesome recipe for quinoa, soaked and sprouted, cooked in homemade bone broth. Lovely. It's the kind of food that changes moods.

I think each of us needs to pay attention to our bodies, and as we try different things, see what works, and what doesn't. We don't all have the same metabolic processes that go on, or the same predisposition to a certain disease. I think more than ever, we need to be aware of how our bodies process, and what works for us, may not work for our husband or wife, or children.

And... as has already been pointed out - for every study that you have telling you the dangers of something - you have others pointing out the benefits. Who to believe?

This again is where being led of the spirit, and being sensitive to how your body operates comes in to play. It doesn't matter if the doctors say you need more ***, if you try that, and it makes you feel worse, stop it. It is not right for you.
Fermentation is another area of importance.

Try researching Sandor Katz, author of Wild Fermentation.

My wife makes all sorts of fermented foods. They are fabulous!

Other book recommendations:

In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan

http://michaelpollan.com/books/in-defense-of-food/

Your Body's Many Cries For Water: You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty by Dr. Batmanghelidj.

French Women Don't Get Fat by Mireille Guiliano

http://frenchwomendontgetfat.com/

Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome by Dr. James Wilson

And finally, if you research what has come to be called "Western Disease" you find that most of what kills us in the country is diet and lack of exercise related. It has nothing to do with real, infectious disease or other conditions.

I just checked out this book today from the library! I have placed on hold the other books you mentioned. It all sounds very interesting, and I want to learn more about it. Thanks for sharing all the links. I had heard of the books before, but have decided that it is time to read more into this.

I have come to believe too, that most of our diseases are because of what we are either ingesting, or breathing into bodies. I do believe in praying and asking the Lord for direction on what is best for me and my family, recognizing that each one of us are unique, and have different needs, and ways of metabolizing, and processing foods. I am coming to see that there is not a "one size fits all" kind of program. For some people, no gluten in their diet seems to do the trick, while others don't need those kind of stringent measures. Some need more protein, others more carbs.

I read a book one time about the different blood types, and how the blood types have a lot to do with how the blood metabolizes and moves nutrients throughout the body. I think this is also something important to look into as well.

OOh.. creme brûlée... well - don't know if your wife makes it or not, but I follow this lady's blog, and she has an excellent recipe for this dessert:

Depends on how you make it.

Not all sugar is created equal.
