Most of us would agree that homosexuality is a sin. Other than "the bible says so." Why is it a
Sin?
I have been talking to a kid for a few days. He is gay and has been looking for a church. Today he asked why it's wrong for him to be gay. Why is it wrong for him to love a man.
Other than "the bible says so" I didn't have an answer, so I haven't replied.
Here was my answer...
All sin is an "abomination". While many rant and rave over homosexuality and it's sinfulness, few adequately explain "why" it is a sin.
God is love. God only desires that we love others as ourselves. Homosexuality doesn't manifest "love" as God desires. In the vast majority of cases it only manifests varying degrees of lust and self serving fraternity. When one realizes the depth to which they have allowed themselves to use others and be used by them, only then will they begin to see why it isn't pleasing to a God who is truly "love".
Essentially, isn't this the core of all sexual sin? The gratuitous use and abuse of self and others for selfish gratification? Such is void of true love.
One cannot truly love their neighbor... and continue to use them to fulfill carnal lusts as though they are objects to gratify the flesh and self.
Can anyone else contribute additional insight to the original question?

Yeah, because, as we all know, heterosexuality has none of those problems.

Timmy, do you support the homosexuality of your son? Or, are you praying for his deliverance, his salvation, his healing? Are you spending time before the Throne, and letting your son know that you are, seeking God to deliver and save your son? I say this from a heart of compassion, knowing what awaits the unrepentant heart. Instead of excusing their sin, are you letting them know that this battle is not being fought alone, that you are fighting along side of them, being a support to them to come out from their sin?

There is nothing to be delivered from, or saved from, or healed of. He isn't trying anymore to be delivered or saved or healed. He's fine.

No, he's not, and sad to say, friend, neither are you. If he is still in his sin, and you are approving of it, then you both are lost and are in need of repentance. Approving sin in the eyes of God is the same as the sin in reference to the judgment deserved. You both need to repent Timmy. Why? He because he is in an abomination, and you for supporting it. You both in all truth need to repent and be delivered.
Love you enough to speak the truth, man.

Of course heterosexuals have these very same problems. The ethic is deeply spiritual and isn't so much grounded in defining sexual sin as a specific action (our sexuality and sexual expression being a blessing), but rather it is the state of our hearts and our intentions in any given sex act that makes it sin or a celebration.
Intrinsically, homosexuality struggles to attain the ideal expression of love as God intended it. Just as incest, seeing that it is intrinsically exploitive in nature.
Sex is designed to be a beautiful expression of love, desire, and union. When any sexual act fails to exhibit this expression, it is sin.
Perhaps a study on the Quaker Christian ethics towards sin and sexuality can shed light on what I'm trying to say and express it more clearly. I've found their interpretation of Scripture and morality to be rather enlightening.

I think I need to back away from this thread. I have already gone against Admin's policy as stated here: http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ad.php?t=25875. I try to be good, but people keep asking me questions about it!
Seriously, I think I should just avoid this topic from now on. If anyone want to discuss offline, we can go to PM or email.

Yeah, I've stopped posting about this subject for the most part as well. I've PM'd with a few in the past and would do so in the future should anyone want to.

How would a person with cancer sound if he said.
"There is nothing to be delivered from, or saved from or healed of. I am not trying anymore to be delivered or saved or healed. I am fine.
