Modesty is biblical concept.
When women wear dresses, it does help men to not sin so easily.

There is no biblical foundation for a woman wearing a dress. Modesty is a biblical concept, yes. Wearing a dress is something man-made due to American customs.

I guess you haven't seen the dresses I've seen in some UPC churches. Dear Lord!
I used to work with some guys who loved women in dresses or skirts. It wasn't because they looked holy, either. I'm not going to post why, you can probably guess as to why.

I don't expect my wife to suffer anything. The principles and values that she holds are personal. It is her freewill choice. As for men I live by the same values. You will never see me wear a skirt or dress. It is the culture of this world that makes it harder for ladies. BTW it is mostly other ladies that are making it harder. Many female activists have made it to be a bad thing to be feminine. What do you feel about that?
Unless she is just faking, my wife is a happy stay at home mom. According to her, she enjoys the freedom of trusting me to be the head of the home. She doesn't worry about bills, but she makes the best out of what she has. Her life is committed to God, our personal family, and our church family. If she wasn't finding fulfillment in things I would want to her to be happy.

And by the way - I certainly don't look down on ANYONE who holds a higher dress code than me, if they do it with humbleness of heart. I admire that! However, one who keeps a dress code with a "holier than thou" attitude does not receive respect at all.... I respect the attitude with which one employs their personal convictions more than the actual application of their conviction.
|
Many times I believe that OP ladies feel under attack by others, and that may be were you feel that holier than thou attitude. The large majority of OP ladies that I know personally are all wonderful people who hold to their values and show lots of love to others. I don't know what your personal experiences have been, but I am sorry if some one has ever been mean and offensive.

It does have a biblical foundation. Deuteronomy 22:5. You may refute that we may misapply things, but to say it has no biblical foundation is a falsehood. As far UPC girls being immodest, that is a broad brushed statement which is not true of all OP ladies. I rarely have seen ladies jeans that aren't immodest to me personally. I have to walk through places with my guard up many times to not be guilty of seeing things I shouldn't.

You should keep your vulgar innuendos to yourself.

Deuteronomy 22:5 is NOT about dresses/skirts. smh Again, dresses have no biblical foundation. It is based on American culture and tradition.
I apologize if you felt I was using a broad brush. I stated "in some UPC churches," which is not indicative of all.

I apologize for offending your delicate eyes, but it's the truth. I could have explained in greater detail. Be thankful I didn't.

Maybe the problem is within yourself! I was in the mall of Louisiana last weekend and honestly I never paid attention to any ladies apparel save one that was in see through yoga pants. My only thought was how in the world can she wear that in public. Not one lustful thought!!!! If you are worried about seeing things you better stay home! You can't stop a bird from flying over your head but you can stop him from building a nest in your hair!
