You are correct, but the emphasis was on the wicked.

No, spiritually anything, you just have no clue as to what God was trying to eradicate with the flood. God didn't have anything against vegetation, rocks, fish, or plankton. He had an issue with the wicked.

But of course. Had there been no wicked, there would not have been a reason for the flood/end of all life come up before God.

NO NO NO the planet earth was not destroyed even remotely the inhabitants were destroyed. The ungodly were destroyed, that is the parallel Peter is making in 2 Peter. God will destroy the ungodly at his return with fire. And he did. There is no metaphor in this passage, the first thing Titus did was to burn with fire everything that would burn. He then torn the city apart stone by stone, thus fulfilling Matt 24:2.

Yet Sean would have you believe not one thing in Matt 24 has been fulfilled.

Re: Some standing here

Mat 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Jesus said this temple shall be destroyed, that not one stone will be thrown down.

Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? (this word world should be "age" not world.

They ask Christ, "when will the temple be destroyed", "what will be the sign of his coming and the end of the age".

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Study the history of the time between these words and the destruction of Jerusalem. There were many wars, conflicts and rumors of wars. Many came saying they were Christ, and deceived many.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

There were famines, pestilences, earthquakes, even kingdom rising against kingdom.

Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

All of the above happened in that period of time.

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Scripture tells us the gospel was preached to all the world and to every creature.

Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand
Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mat 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mat 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

These very words were the warning of Christ to flee Jerusalem, and the Christians did just that. Then history tells us of the great tribulation that those left in the surrounding areas of Jerusalem under the siege of Rome for three and a half years. To the point that they were eating their own children.

Mat 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mat 24:25 Behold, I have told you before.
Mat 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

This is simply a warning to the Christians that fled to Pella, to stay in the safety until the end.

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

This is not speaking of literal stars falling from the heavens. Rather the fall of ruling powers. OT scriptures give us several instances where these terms are used in this manner.

Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

This really did happen, at least two historians wrote of seeing heavenly horsemen and chariots riding in the sky.

Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

This is not speaking of a rapture, but a resurrection of the dead of all the righteous up to that point.

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

These are the very words that saved the Christians from being part of the great judgment of God on those that crucified Christ and did not repent.

Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

This does not mean the world was any more evil than it ever was, it simply means that they were living life as they always had and were caught unawares when the judgment came on them.

Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Again this is not speaking of a rapture, it is speaking of how Titus carried away many of the living away captive as slaves.

Many would have you believe that none of this happened, because like the religious leaders of Christ day, their temporal minds cannot grasp the kingdom of God in the world today.

I think you are misreading me. I stated unequivocally that the planet was NOT annihilated. But the planet did suffer catastrophic topological damage. A full, planetary deluge with the springs under the earth being opened completely changed the geographical and geological face of the planet.

Yes, the wicked went down the drain with all of the other forms of life, to be sure. And that WAS the point of the flood. But let's not act like nothing else on the planet's surface got away okay. Pangeatic movement of entire continents occurred! A massive ice-age ensued afterward, too, which carved up the northern hemisphere something fierce.

I was saying the entire church age was addressed in Matt. 24.....Not just the 1st century church.

Could they have pre-occupied?

Could they have been complacent?

Could they have died, not seeing the 2nd coming, making our Lord a liar?

It would be silly to not mention such an event, being the spiritual founders of the church.

Okay my preterist compadres....I want some info on WHO saw the 2nd coming please.

Jesus said there were some standing there that would see His 2nd coming?

Is there a side book from the 1st century that was not accepted somewhere?

Anything?

Howbout Josephus?, Did God annoint him in some incorporated Apostolic writings to write about the 2nd coming, but not the disciples?

If such a majestic sight as Jesus described happened....WHO SAW IT???

WHO WROTE ABOUT IT???

I am speaking of eye witness accounts of His so-called 2nd coming....Any at all?

I still have not got my answer.

Re: Some standing here

Just think, such a grand, prophesied event as the 2nd coming that NOBODY recorded.

Whatever happened to the inspired writers?

Did they stop making ink in 70ad?

Luke 21:24 tells of the destruction of Jerusalem, and the time of the fulfillment of the Nebuchadnezzar image. The rock struck the feet of the clay and iron mingled together, and their alliance was no more. Also in Revelation 11:2 "But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months."

Also go read Brother Bernard's teachings on tithing. I believe you will be blessed.
