God forgives all things. Even complacency. Even taking his grace for granted.

that does not mean we should be complacent and take his grace for granted

Jfrog how are you getting that from the verse? It looks like you bypassed the verse I offered? But instead of dealing with the verse in its context, you decided to tell me how those who oppose your belief system are the bad guys. That you are clean. Could you please explain the verse in its context?

WADR, surely that isn't what you think that verse means.

Re: Once Saved Always Saved

What I found exposes OSAS for the error that it is is its proponents' understanding of what Romans 6 through 7 teaches. If a person believes Romans 7's description of Paul saying he could never really do the good he wanted to do applies to all believers until Jesus comes, as though we can never get victory, that person will be prey to a degree to OSAS. OSAS teaches we can never really get victory over sin. And THAT LED to the OSAS doctrine that you can sin and still be saved. It's based upon the idea no one could ever make it to heaven if there was not OSAS, because we cannot have that much victory. But Romans 7 is not teaching every believer can never get victory over sin, but teaching that those believers who do not learn how to be led by and walk after the Spirit cannot have victory.

Re: Once Saved Always Saved

I was corrected by the elders. OSAS does imply that people can and do live in sin.

We believe in perseverance of the Saints.

That's because they misunderstand Romans 7. Been there and done it.

Right. I have seen many go Romans 7. Mosty from the Reformed camp. The "New Calvinists" are more Romans 6 in their understsnding.

Galation 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted
Complete victory over sin does not occur until we resurect. We must all watch and pray that we don't fall into temptation. I think there is a difference in living in willful sin and falling to temptation. Either must be be resisted, and should be regarded as dangerous to our eternal soul. The above verse lets me know that we are not above sin in this life. Sin can be so many things from a bad attitude to a thought allowed place in our mind.

This should keep us humble before God. Just like one of the thieves on the cross we too must have that same attitude toward God if we are going to be with him in paradise. Live every day by the grace of God. WE should pray without ceasing for God to watch over us and direct us. Not giving occasion to sin in our life, because if there is a door of temptation we are subject to fall.

So long as we walk after the Spirit we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh and sin. Thank the Lord we can do that now.

Then praise God that you were made better than your brothers.

I will take your word that you do not sin. But please listen to your brothers that tell you it is impossible for them not to sin.
