Let me tell you why I think it is important.

In our culture, Western Civilization, for thousands of years pants have been distinctly masculine garments.

In our current culture there is extreme gender confusion. Allowing men to have distinctive clothing affirms their masculinity. Affirms that there is a difference in the sexes.

obviously it's going to take more then that, young boys also need Father's teaching them what is means to be a man, taking their boys fishing, teaching them how to clean a fish, how to hunt and gut a deer, mow the lawn, fix cars, work for a living, on and on.
