In other words, Trump is doing exactly what I feared he would do in the worst conceivable way. He's not building the wall, while making ridiculous promises right up until the second before he folds.

News reports suggest Trump is refusing to sign the deal without funds for border security....

No, he can't. He's tried to use various presidential powers, but each time the courts have ruled against the administration. What would you have him do, dissolve the judicial system? Not sure what you want Trump to do. He's tried doing several different things relating to immigration and refugees. Regardless of what was allowed by previous administrations, the courts have been blocking every single move Trump tries to make.
|
Yes he can. He has lawful control over immigration. The border is a matter of national security. Courts don't have authority to keep an invasion of the US going.

Trump hasn't deployed troops, nor has he waged war. He has to work with Congress, it's part of being the POTUS. If Mexico uses the money to build up their border security and make their country better, so be it.

Bombing a foreign country and sending advisors and maintaining troops (4000 last I heard) there to overthrow their government is waging war.

Wow. So the POTUS should only do things which will help those who will vote for a certain political party? Also, don't write off the minority vote. Trump currently has approval of 29% among blacks and 39% among hispanics. In polling a field of 2020 primary contenders, Trump leads everyone (both parties) among blacks and hispanics. Trump is showing minorities that it's okay to vote GOP. Not sure what you're trying to say. I won't try to guess, but your comments here don't look good.
|
The GOP will never get "the minority vote". They don't care, as a voting block, about what he's done "to help minorities". Facts are facts. Pandering to minorities is useless, besides which it alienates the base. Which will eventually result in things going in a direction that current GOP supporters (like yourself) will NOT desire.

Election fraud, while certainly a criminal offense, is not treason. Literally.

When it is a nationwide coordinated effort to subvert the rule of law and overthrow our sovereignty on the part of anti American globalists, socialists, communists, and other traitors and foreign agents, yes, it is treason. Literally.
One of the reasons we're going down the drain is too many people have their head in the sand making excuses for what's plainly in front of them. Its called normalcy bias and its killing the nation.
The slide into Argentine or Brazil style decay will continue unabated until there's no longer football on the boobtube, beer in the fridge, or food on the table. THEN people will wake up, although it may be too late.

Per reports, Trump called GOP leaders to WH this morning and informed them he would be vetoing the CR, which will result in a partial govt shutdown.
Not sure if this was a bluff or not, but all signs are pointing to the POTUS doing what he said he would do last week.

Trump did not send troops to Syria. He did order a missile strike there, but he did not send the 2,000 currently in Syria over there. That was the previous administration.

You should take your vast and superior knowledge and tell the courts they don't have authority, because Trump has made several orders and each time the courts have blocked them. He's tried, the courts blocked him, not much else he can do.

There are 2,000 in Syria and Trump did not send them.

Okay, just give up and do nothing. That'll win elections. Understand that white majority is declining, so if you only "pander" to your white friends, you're not going to win very many more elections.

Please explain how including all Americans alienates the base and how doing good things for minorities will "eventually result in things going in a direction that current GOP supporters will NOT desire."

Re: MAGA?
Trump has tweeted he will not sign the budget unless it provides for the border wall. So we'll see if he holds out on it, or caves.
BTW, whatever happened to making Mexico pay for it? lol)

Trump playing along with the charade, and you buy it hook, line, and sinker. THIS is why the republicants are known for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Every. Single. Time.

I'll check on that. I heard 4000. Trump did not begin, but has continued, and apparently increased, deployments. But I'll check on it.

White majority is declining because of out of control immigration, period. When the GOP panders to minorities, they lose. Its an observable fact. The number of Hispanic and black voters who support the GOP is not, never has been, and will never be enough to secure GOP wins. That is also a fact.

You must not study history very much. Civic nationalism is a failure, it is why we are where we are. It's called "Empire", didn't work for Rome, Babel, or the Vatican, and won't work for America, either. The only way to hold an empire of competing cultures together is through bread and circuses and brute strength. That means tyranny. The only alternative that might succeed at stopping such a thing is "literally Hitler". Scylla and Charybdis, hammer and anvil, rock and hard place. Mayberry is dead, no matter what direction we go.

Again, you should talk with the courts who have blocked Trump's actions on immigration and the border to let them know they can't do that.

Per WaPO, USAToday and a few other rags, the number is approximately 2,000 troops. Most were sent there in 2015 and 2016 by Obama. I did read that in early 2017, there were spec ops troops sent to Syria, but there wasn't a number listed.

That isn't a fact. FL GOP candidates received the highest number of hispanic votes -- 45% for Scott and 44% for DeSantis.

Mmmmk. I don't want to falsely accuse, but this sounds incredibly racist.

Re: MAGA?
Why We Miss the WASPs
WASPs are White Anglo-Saxon Protestants.
Op-Ed received a ton of criticism a couple weeks ago.

Re: MAGA?
Jake Tapper is claiming multiple sources have told him that Trump is considering another Syria-type announcement, this time about withdrawing troops from Afghanistan.
Awesome! Bring them all home!
Hilarious reading responses from peace-loving libs who were against the US being in Afghanistan and are now screaming about Trump bringing troops home.
