I think it is beyond stupid that MJ is illegal for medicial purposes. it is one of the safest drugs with some of the best results for certain situations.

However, there is no reason why it should be legal for recreational purposes. MJ should be treated like any narcotic. it should be controled as a prescription drug.

LOL Too funny. For the record, I did not say they should be legalized. At least, I don't think I did. I might've, I need to check. I think I said that we shouldn't expect the government to legalize morality. If we place the burden on them to do so, we might have an issue if the government changes their morals.

I agree that SF is a liberal and very socialistic city but that is government. As a whole it just doesn't seem any worse than other cities across america in comparision to Memphis, New Orleans, Chicago, St. Louis. Let me see if I can get any crime stats.

it means you might be a little on the nutty side.

all of these things (except gay marriage) have serious public health concerns if left unregulated.

gay marriage violates Millennia old tradition, history, and flies in the face of every major religious structure in the known universe.

so in all cases, these fall into a catagory that the government has an interest.

I can see were the argument for public safety is valid.

Also, I see absolutely no valid reason for gay marriage. Marriage is an institution between man and woman and there is really no reason to change. The whole purposed of extending monetary benefits to a spouse is because in past cultures women worked in the home while men went to work. If a divorce happened or the husband died then the woman would be left with no marketable skills and no money.

My whole point is that the war on drugs has failed miserably and I think our efforts and resources could better be used to treat rather and legislate. Willie Nelson isn't hurting anyone and I don't consider him getting caught with a little grass a big deal.

I also never said I was for any of that stuff. Thad is just trying to have some fun.

I agree. Leave them alone. Marijuana shouldn't be illegal in the first place.

We have a young lady that has been coming to church faithfully that has been heroine clean for 96 days. Came off cold turkey. Her boyfriend told me the story of them being in a hotel room and getting thru the severe withdraw stage. What a horrific experience.
Wow. I was in jail once, back in my 20s, and witnessed a fella going through withdrawals from heroin. It wasn't a pretty sight.

Thad, people who try marijuana either like or they don't like it. I doubt much would change in the numbers of people who use it. One benefit from legalizing it is that cancer patients would get some relief without having to worry about going to jail.
