Broad brush? Maybe...but her comment wasn't out of line, or even too far fetched. I think there are quite a few churches that run things the same or very similar. Enough to say that it IS a problem in this district.

Some folks are tired of living behind stern looks and reprimands that say, 'You can't say THAT!'

In case it matters, I did spend the time to read the thread. I am not taking that statement out of context. If you wish, I can go two doors down from where I live and ask the church treasurer of that particular church you claim has been left deep in debt by the pastor if this is true. Would that be of help to you? After all, if this is true, you should want it verified by somebody who would really know, and I am certainly happy to go ask.

You THINK there are quite a few churches that 'run things the same or very similar'? I see. I would recommend you visit such churches as you suspect of this before you make such a claim, but then you might discover that things are not nearly so awful as you THINK.

Don't you THINK I wouldn't have said something such as this without first KNOWING what I was talking about?

I believe there is enough confirmation here from various posters that it DOES happen.

This thread has been a good thread and it's not been just ONE voice. It's understood that sometimes when you are too close to something you can't see things as clearly.

It does matter when I spoke the truth again...I don't need it verified, I know what happened when the church was built...it cost more than they had money for and there were problems with contractors. It ended up costing them twice...I did not say it was good or bad...I do know that when the church was built it put them in deep debt! What the status is today I don't know....it's strange how you have appointed yourself the defender...if there were not problems it probably wouldn't need your defense, I think you're doing a good job of showing an example of the problem in this district....

Truly, I think your understanding is faulty, and your insight is skewed, so there is no telling what you might say, but it don't make it so just because you say so.

And thus one really, really good reason to speak from a little distance (as I am), but not out in unfamiliar territory. And has everybody out here forgotten the awful little truth that this thread has, for the most part, only presented one very biased side of a much larger set of circumstances?

The whole purpose of the tread was about my experience and I can only tell my part....you on the other had seem to know everybody else's...

Many came to the thread and put in what they had gone through, because it was so smiliar....many of us who have been wounded have found healing in God first and the friends we have made here on this forum and in our lives...when you come along and get your neck stiff all you do is confirm many of the feelings that some have experienced at the hands of un-relenting self righteous pious "Christians" .... This is my last post to you, because I need not defend myself to you, what I have stated here is my truth, my life, my experience...I knew at some point you would come stomping up and proclaim the purity of my old church's pastor...maybe one day you will see the full truth and not look through those blinded eyes...in the mean time...God loves me as much as He loves you and I am so glad we can have the same wonderful God no matter what else comes along...I hope you will stop attacking me and my life...and move on to other things...this thread was here for me and others like me...it had been peaceful and sweet until you put your two cents in....have a nice life Mrs.Murphy...please don't address me again I have not interest in discussing anything else with you...

Yes, it was 'peaceful and sweet' because there was no dissenting point of view, just like minded feelings. Set your mind at ease, dear, my husband has said that my time on this thread has come to an end, so you may now continue on your merry way without a worry of my disturbance.
