Yes ma'am, and the Word gives reverance for those who die for Christ sake, yet I don't remember any reverance given to those who die for country.

I figured she was doomed the minute she set foot on Pakistani soil to involve herself in the political process.

The thing is, she probably knew it as well. Courageous lady. Ferd is right. Bad day for the good guys.

Assasination of Bhutto

This really hit me hard today. Looks like there will be serious repercussions due to this horrific tragedy.

This thread probably won't get off the ground...but the impact on our world will most likely be profound. What a terrible set-back for peace talks in the Middle East...

Yes, I agree, Dora...

The President just gave brief remarks, and he said that the greatest tribute to her would be to have a peaceful election.

Her followers, however, are already blaming the government.

And it seems my info earlier was incorrect...she was shot twice and the assassin died in a car bomb.

Dora, some days are more important than other days.

This is one of the important days.

Sometimes we have a Pearl Harbor to point to where everyone pretty much agrees on the importance of the occasion. They define a generation. But other days like today arent quite so universally understood.

there is no question in my mind that today may very well be just as momentious as Pearl Harbor and vastly more important than even the death of John Kennedy.

I hope I am wrong. History will judge.

This should make my trip to India next month more interesting, we will be traveling to a region about 200 miles from the Pakistan Border and has been the site of Hindu and Moslem tension in the past.

Agreed. Though I don't like the prospect of the fighting, the extremists over there are never content with anything short of bloodshed and total domination.
