Knowing The Will Of God

Is there a basic contradiction between having to live by faith and knowing the will of God for our personal lives??

We know it is the will of God for us to be saved, but how do we know for sure what the will of God is for our personal lives; such as where should we live? or whom should we marry?

Is there a modern day fleece for knowing the will of God or is that just an OT story??

How do you know for sure the will of God for your life today, or do you just mentally convince yourself you are in the will of God?

God's will for me is that I live my life to the best of my ability, using the mind He gave me to make decisions, following Jesus's top two laws (Matt 22:35-40).

(Pretty sure, anyway! )

I would suggest that many of us are not close enough to God to hear his voice in a recognizable way, and thus we tend to use the "open door/closed door" approach in finding Gods will.

I heard it state one time that, "when the Word of God, the Spirit of God, & Outward Circumstances line up, that is the Will of God!"

There are some that can change, for example.
Say a good Apostolic young man begins dating an unsaved girl (not will of God)
he marries her, (still not will of God) they both say "I do" that then becomes the will of God that they do thier best to stay married.

I agree with St Matt, that most of us are not close enough to the Lord.
I have heard his voice speak clearly & succinctly in certain situations, other times I haven't.
I get an impression in my spirit many times that tell me whether or not something is good-a check if you will.

Good thread!

In major areas of my life, I measure the will of God by how my actions will affect the Kingdom of God. If an action will not further the Kingdom then it is definitely NOT the will of God! Simplistic but it has proven out both positively and negatively over time.
