Look at pictures of the old time Pentecostals.
They had no problem with facial hair.
That clean shaven thing came along later.

Yup. I always thought it was funny that in the OP publlications about Oneness Pentecostal history they always had some pics of highly revered pioneers with facial hair but managed to never speak about it in the text.

Bottom line is that if some of those Pentecostal Pioneers tried to get on the platform of a many modern ultra con churches they would be escorted out of the building.

Well if the standards change with the times , and the point is to seperate ourselves from the world, then is it possible that facial hair was acceptable until the hippie days? We wouldn't to be associated with them I don't think.

In fact I think that the insinuation of "hateful" Pentecostals is coming mostly from the fertile imaginations of bitter, backslidden ex Apostolics who are constantly trying to find a way to justify their actions. ~ strait shooter

I think most conservitives will say that the No beard standard came about in opposition to the hippie generation.

Beards were not forbidden before that, and many early Apostolics wore them.

I agree, Ferd.

What's curious tho, is why the prohibition wasn't repealed after the hippie movement?

Yup but when Apostolics did decide to forbid them they did not do so with the proper context. They just declared facial hair a sin, rebellion, etc and preached the dickens out of it.

The result of that type preaching and OP legalism in general is a group of people where many see the laundry list of do's and don'ts as absolute lists of sins that can never change. Somewhere along the way teaching principles was lost and only recently discovered again as pastors have had problems justifying "holiness" decisons made decades ago that are indefensible.

Excellent point.

The problem with "seasonal" guidelines is that they're never "seasonal". And, while many hold to the "old paths", the new dangers creep in unabated.
