“FIREPROOF” from the creators of “Facing the Giant
If you enjoyed the recent movies, Flywheel and Facing the Giants, from Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA then you will be pleased to hear that they have a new movie coming to theatres this August…Fireproof!
The Christian Index publication in Georgia states, “After praying for an idea that would impact not only the church, but our culture as a whole, we believe the Lord has directed us to focus on marriage in the third movie,” says Alex Kendrick.
Today, one in two marriages end in divorce so the Kendrick brothers decided to address faltering marriages and teach “lessons of what happens when a life – and a marriage – is turned over to God.” They want to challenge viewers “Our hope would be that after viewing the film, couples and singles hoping to marry would be challenged and exhorted to pursue God-honoring relationships that reinforce the foundations of marriage in light of a relationship with Jesus Christ. We want people to realize that fireproof does not mean the absence of fire, but the ability to withstand it.”
This is the third movie produced by this church and I’m sure it will be another great family film. Kirk Cameron has joined the cast allowing the Kendrick brothers to produce the film without also acting in it. According to The Christian Index, Kirk ran into Alex Kendrick and their pastor in the airport and began discussing their newest movie venture. Kirk wanted to offer help and decided to audition for the movie. He plays the main character, Caleb Holt, firefighter.
According to the website ( www.fireproofthemovie.com), Fireproof’s storyline is as follows:
Lt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter’s adage: Never leave your partner behind. Inside burning buildings, it’s his natural instinct. In the cooling embers of his marriage, it’s another story.
After 7 years of marriage, Caleb and Catherine Holt have drifted so far apart that they are ready to move on without each other. Yet as they prepare to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb’s dad asks his son to try an experiment: The Love Dare.
While hoping The Love Dare has nothing to do with his parents’ newfound faith, Caleb commits to the challenge. But can he attempt to love his wife while avoiding God’s love for him? Will he be able to demonstrate love over and over again to a person that’s no longer receptive to his love? Or is this just another marriage destined to go up in smoke?
Tell your friends and sign up for updates on the movie’s website!

This is supposed to be a really good movie. I haven't seen Flywheel but I heard it was as good or better than Facing the Giants, and my girls and I loved it.

I got to see some of "FIREPROOF" last night and the movie is going to be awesome. It deals with battles that couples are dealing with today. Some of the issues couples deal with are hidden but this movie exposes them. It will be awesome. I believe it will impact people's lives.

I've seen both and I think Facing the Giants is by far the better of the two.... However, even though they did not have the funs like major pictures do, both stirred my heart and both were an inspiration to me... unlike major motion pictures...... Facing the Giants is such an uplifting film....
Is Fireproof out yet?

Well a lot of the issues couples deal with invariably involve the physical relationship, the intimate type, and I wonder IF this movie will touch that to a signficant degree., as it is, IMHO in the top 3reasons couples divorce, and especially IN 'the church'. I haven't seen the other two movies yet, I'd heard about this one several months back on an interview with Kurt., I think his prescence on that movie will infinitely add to its appeal and success.

Yesterday I got to see the writer & director of Fireproof in a lecture and he showed clips from Fireproof. (He was also the star in Flywheel).

One of the men in the movie told me that in one scene the computer is thrown out of the house and beaten.

Flywheel had a budget of only $20,000 and was shot back around 2003 on just DV video.
Facing Giants had a $100,000 budget and was shot on high def.
Fireproof has a $500,00 budget (still miniscule by Hollywood numbers where a low budget film is considered low budget around the $5-10 million dollar mark).
Freproof has a tenative release date in theaters of Sept 19 if I remember correctly.
The scenes I saw were real "girl chick" type scenes, very dramatic, but based on their past films I am sure they have enough in them to keep guys interested to the end so they get the point.

They did really good, imo. Of course I cried! Okay, if you parents with younger children wanna be tortered, watch the "Sugar Creek Gang" with your children! LOL.... Some things are just for children only! Actually, the series got better with each one.... By the 4th dvd, I didn't mind it too bad! lol

While marriage counselors/therapists disagree on the exact order, the top three problems attributed to failed marriages is.
1. Money
2. Intimacy (including sex)
3. Communication
IMO in most cases there is only one cause of marriage failure. Communication! If couples can learn to communicate they will be able to solve (in 99% of cases) their money, and intimacy issues.
BTW, Didn't mean to highjack the thread, maybe we should start another one. LOL
