Soldiers are paid to fight and die...not innocent men, women, and children. What if Sadam would have done the same to us after realizing he was loosing the war in Iraq? Oh...I forgot...he didn't have nukes as the President implied with his "smoking gun in the form of a mushroom cloud" comment.

Does he mean "we" didn't bat an eye as in the President didn't bat an eye or in the sense that America as a people didn't appear to have deep reservations over the use of the bomb and the fact that it fried the flesh off the bones of masses of Japanese children.
who cares????????
In either case, America was in shock and quite impacted by the loss of life!
Just how far do you intend to go to defend this creep Chris?
You are acting like a defense attorny accusing a rape victem of complicity! this is insane!

Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. For example in this fact check article it reads:
Quote:
A point not raised in this e-mail: Some have complained that Obama should have placed his hand over his heart during the singing of the anthem, as pictured in the Time photo. It is true that the U.S. Code states that "all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart." But the word "should" rather than "shall" makes that a recommendation and not a legal requirement. To confirm, we spoke with Anne Garside, director of communication for the Maryland Historical Society – home of the original manuscript of "The Star-Spangled Banner," and asked if anyone could be punished for not placing their hands over their hearts during the national anthem. She quickly replied, "Oh, of course not," adding that "there is no obligation to put your hand over your heart." Garside told us she has been asked numerous times about this rumor and finds the controversy to have "gotten a little bit ridiculous."
CH,
It is my opinion that if you run for high political office and your last name is Obama you don't play around with the legalities of "should" and "shall".
Yeah. I know. Most of the time I skip over his posts, but I happened to read some of them this time and thought he was making good sense. As for you insulting me, let's forget about it. I should have realized you were making a joke.
Rico, I rarely insult people without patting them on the head.

Classic liberalism (read badguys)
when they cannot win an argument retreat to the "Bush lied" line. LOL!
Pats Chris on the head, it'll be alright...

Does anyone think God is ever pleased with the pain humanity inflicts on Humanity?
what an odd question Chris. Was God pleased when I drove 56 miles an hour this morning?
Was God pleased with the Billions upon Billions that American spent rebuilding both Japan and Germany in the aftermath of WW2?
You know Ferd after all, God never did any retribution of his own. It's not like fire and brimstone from heaven caused any difficulty for anyone in the bible.
Well, maybe I am becoming a softie in my old age (I am turning 41 this year, ya know), but, after thinking about it during this conversation, it seems to have been overkill in the worst way possible. I don't pretend to be an expert on WWII, and I know that the Japanese were a fierce enemy when they were our enemies, but the idea that my government was willing to kill so many innocent people, rather than continuing to fight that war with conventional weapons, just doesn't sit right with me.
This is nothing but a lame excuse for bad manners and disrespecting the flag--plain and simple.
But that's the point...it's not disrespectful according to the authorities on the issue. It's only disrespectful according to you. Personally, I would have put my hand over my heart. But I understand that it's not a requirement nor is it disrespectful.
And even if Obama felt the need not to salute in traditional fashion over what he believes to be American hubris at home and abroad...that took some guts and conviction. Phony patriotism always salutes it's country right or wrong...a true patriot takes his stand to confront his nation believing that his country when right to be kept right...when wrong to be made right.
