CH,
We still have a quote from one of Obama's spokesmen:
Asked whether Obama normally puts his hand over his heart while listening to the national anthem, Obama spokesman Bill Burton replied by e-mail: "Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. In no way was he making any sort of statement, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous."
Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. For example in this fact check article it reads:
Quote:
A point not raised in this e-mail: Some have complained that Obama should have placed his hand over his heart during the singing of the anthem, as pictured in the Time photo. It is true that the U.S. Code states that "all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart." But the word "should" rather than "shall" makes that a recommendation and not a legal requirement. To confirm, we spoke with Anne Garside, director of communication for the Maryland Historical Society – home of the original manuscript of "The Star-Spangled Banner," and asked if anyone could be punished for not placing their hands over their hearts during the national anthem. She quickly replied, "Oh, of course not," adding that "there is no obligation to put your hand over your heart." Garside told us she has been asked numerous times about this rumor and finds the controversy to have "gotten a little bit ridiculous."

Ferd, don't insult me. I haven't insulted you. Just because you have an opinion on something doesn't make your opinion right. I generally don't come to CH's defense, but he is making some good points. He is at least trying to put these events in some sort of Biblical context, which is a whole lot more than I can say for the rest of us.
Rico, I am sorry you didnt get the joke. That is my falt.
But honestly Chris hasnt made a valid opinoin (in the opinion of about 3 dozen posters) on the subject of politics since I have known him....going back our duels on GNC.

opinons are fine Rico. but when they lack actual real historic contexts, the resemble armpits more than cogent analysis.
Ferd, how do you feel about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki from a moral standpoint? Was it justified to kill so many innocent people for the sake of winning a war and sparing the lives of servicemen?
I dont care if he said the pledge of allegence. Dude said we dropped bombs on Japan and didnt bat and eye.
those were his words not mine. dont insult my intelegence.
Does he mean "we" didn't bat an eye as in the President didn't bat an eye or in the sense that America as a people didn't appear to have deep reservations over the use of the bomb and the fact that it fried the flesh off the bones of masses of Japanese children.

Do any of you believe God was pleased when we vaporized thousands of Japanese children? Perhaps we didn't have a choice in regards to the earthly point of view...but do you think God applauded this?
Does anyone think God is ever pleased with the pain humanity inflicts on Humanity?
what an odd question Chris. Was God pleased when I drove 56 miles an hour this morning?
Was God pleased with the Billions upon Billions that American spent rebuilding both Japan and Germany in the aftermath of WW2?

Rico, Ferd's a right wing political hack. He largely sees things in conservative vs. liberal...rarely through a strictly biblical context.

Yeah. I know. Most of the time I skip over his posts, but I happened to read some of them this time and thought he was making good sense. As for you insulting me, let's forget about it. I should have realized you were making a joke.

This is nothing but a lame excuse for bad manners and disrespecting the flag--plain and simple.
