I also find it just odd that he would have to tell every UPC person he came in contact with why he had a beard as if it was equated with his salvation or doctrinal beliefs.

Duh.......where have you been? I think they do think it's salvational.

That's crazy! If they really do think it's salvational, then it's sin to grow one even for a drama.
In the past when I helped with dramas we did some very realistic beards with that braided hair stuff you get at the party store. You cut it to the length you want and "glue" it it on with spirit gum..think that's what it's called...and it doesn't fall off.

That's been my point all along. If it's a SIN, then it's a sin at Easter too. Maybe they don't think it's a sin anymore; we've been gone from UPC 16 years. But back then, it was considered a SIN.

We are UPC and we don't consider it sin. However, I really don't like facial hair on a man (or a woman ) so, it's not a big deal to me.

Not many have the guts to call it a sin anymore (this is a good thing) but I would dare say that the vast majority of UPC churches out there would view a man who had received the Holy Ghost and was still wearing a beard as a "problem" and would breathe a collective sigh of relief when he finally shaved it off. Of course this would be followed with the appropriate mass conditioning response of dozens of "Brother you look so much better now".
Until a man wearing a nicely kept beard is viewed no differently as a man with a nice tie then the beard will still bear its "well... it's not a sin but..... are you sure you don't want to shave that thing off" badge of dishonor.

Let it be known that I have recently grown a beard. We are UPC. I am sure I will be criticized and perhaps ostrasized by some.
And frankly my dear I don't give a ..................
It's past time that we get over ourselves and the Hair-esy we teach on the subject of facial hair on men.

So the way God created people (plain faced as you call it - no makeup) does not look good. To me that is an insult to our creator.
