As I think HO mentioned she finds herself conditoined to instinctively judge other believers by a laundry list of how they look even though intellectually she rejects that now. She is not alone.
Now of course if past history holds true someone wil come on and claim that I am being judgemental in my statements. I would suggest I am relating facts not a judgement.

She's just at that point in the process, CC1. I've been there, and every now and then catch myself going back there sometimes. That nagging "what if" is a tough "if" to overcome. That "what if I'm wrong about this" "if" eventually fades off in the distance.

This is basicly what happened to my anti-Christmas views.

Yeah. I have heard of that happening with people who don't celebrate Christmas. In fact, when I left the UC church, where the no Christmas thing started for me, the pastor told me point blank it would be two years and I'd be back to putting up a tree in my front room. Guess he didn't factor conviction into his assessment because it has been much longer than 2 years, and I still don't celebrate Christmas. I've been down that road of separating compliance from conviction on pretty much everything I believe, and boy am I glad!

My wife and I have been married 33 years this July and have never has a Xmas tree and do not feel the least bit deprived. It is a conviction with me.

Brother, I will admit it's been hard at times because I have children. Kids don't understand what conviction is. All they know is their friends are busy braggin about getting this or that and they didn't get anything. Doing the right things isn't always easy.

Rico, This from someone who was raised without the Christmas trappings.... I mean the trees and holly and Santa.
I think there is little harm in eating a Christmas feast and giving a few modest gifts. As Old Order Mennonites we focused on the birth of Christ and left the pagan origin stuff to others, but we did eat a good "Christmas" meal and give modest gifts. I think even our bro Epley might go with that.

There was a time I wouldn't go visit family during the Christmas season. But that's changed. The kids get two weeks off from school during that time, and it's perfect for family get togethers. It took my parents (mainly my Mom) time to get it through their heads that we wouldn't be accepting or giving any gifts during visits this time of year, but they got used to it eventually (Dad didn't have much of a problem at all). BTW, they are divorced, so I am talking about separate visits.
I've let my two oldest children know that they will have to look at the facts and decide for themselves once they get grown and out of the house. I won't hold it against them if they choose to celebrate Christmas because I know conviction plays a major role in deciding against celebrating this holiday. Under different circumstances (like the church not deciding this is God's birthday), I'd probly go along with the whole thing. If you ever saw me you'd say I'd make a good Santa. (Is that the thundering of footsteps I hear off in the distance?  )

Bro. Epley, under my father's teaching, we had no Xmas trees to this day, as a family, we still don't. My Question to you is, there are other conservatives that also do not allow anyone to celebrate birthdays either as it relates to "birthstones" and horoscopes,etc. and of course, easter is out of the question too.
So, If Xmas is pagan thus no celebration, what about the others i mentioned do you commerate those ?

The Late Eld.Carl Ballestero was his first Pastor when he got saved. shortly after, the Late Eld.Lee Davis took the church in southern California. Lee was my Father's mentor and pastor. Lee built one of the largest and strongest Churches in the State. After he died it went thru a lot of transitions. I'm not really in touch with the church or its status anymore.
what made you ask ?( just curious)
