Yeah right.
Try God, if that doesn't work, get a gun and call the law.

Are you accusing them of abandoning God? What says they aren't still praying over this situation? What says that if this man were to call them and repent over what he's been doing that they won't take him back? They aren't out of the Book one bit with their actions, Old Paths. This man has demonstrated a willingness to use violence in the past and has the potential to cause them great bodily harm. A man is responsible for protecting his family and a pastor is responsible for protecting the congregation when they meet. This brother has used wisdom in the steps he's taking, after having tried other measures to reach this man. It's sad that, along with having to deal with some nutjob attacking them, they also have to deal with their own attacking them for protecting themselves.

Instituting a partner policy, no leader is to be alone at the church, we operate two by two now on
Pulled out my Glock 17, now loaded and is in an safe yet, accessable place
Thanks to all for the wisdom and spirit behind your posts, this is something they don't teach in Seminary.

You are the one making an accusation against him for having it. You prove that the Book condemns men from using whatever means necessary to protect their families, Old Paths. You are the accuser in this situation, not me. Prove your case.

Re: Please pray!!!
Alrighty then... I can list names of prominent upc and apostolic pastors who have had guns pulled on them or others during church services. I want you to go and ask them if it is biblical or not... or better yet... when someone comes and pulls a gun on you and all these scriptures you have thrown in Jeanie and Keiths face just dont do a whole lot to someone who is already lost it in their minds and are dead set to kill someone right then... then you tell me what you are gonna do and how against defending yourself you are... I pray it does not happen to you... but with that attitude its bound to one day... And I pray for you!

AG, what happens if someone pulls a gun on the preacher and the preacher pulls out his own gun? someone gets hurt or even killed.
or does an usher pull out a gun? and what if bullets start flying? someone gets hurt or even killed.
What if the gun the crazy person pulls out is not loaded? and the other person shoots in self defense?
Calling on the name of the Lord is much more powerful than a gun. IMO.

And what happens if some nutjob breaks into your house while you are sleeping, bent on blowing your head off, raping your wife and daughters, and cutting you all up into pieces? You say get up out of the bed and start shouting scriptures at him? Good luck with that.

No doubt in mind that GOD could do that, but I believe God gave us a brain to protect ourselves too. Just like I'm not going to go picking up any snakes to prove God can keep me from getting bit!

Well then you're really going to think I'm crazy because I trust God to keep me while I sleep.
If something bizarre happens like what you are describing, then God is allowing it to happen like He did with Job. God is my shield. I'm not worried about nutjobs!

While an attack on a family could call for immediate and tough choices, God forbid I would ever belittle or discount the one who is calling on the name of the Lord. If I had to choose only one course of action it would be, hands down, to seek God - and call on His name.
