I remember something I heard from Bishop Garlington about using a reader. When he started out, that was just the way it was done. Well, he had chosen someone to read for him and he was preaching away. He would pause and the reader would read. As the reader was reading, every so often he would come to a word he couldn't pronounce so he would just say "big word" and go on. Bishop Garlington said that after that he did his own reading.

Re: Invitation To Our 89th Holy Convocation (COOLJ

I don't know just when the COOLJC was chartered but back in 1927 Bishop Mark Lawson chartered the Church of Jesus Christ (COJC). That group has had several splits and divisions over the years. I've been licensed/ordained in three different groups who use that name or variations of that name. Mark Lawson's son, Bishop Boyd Lawson, is currently chairman of a group called the Churches of Jesus Christ International with headquarters in Cleveland, TN. They still reference the 1927 charter and their ordination certificates and fellowship cards say The Church of Jesus Christ.

They have two web sites, both need work.
The old one is
http://www.angelfire.com/tn3/cojci/
It hasn't been updated in a while.

The new one is
http://www.thecojcint.net/
but that web site is under construction

I have not seen Bishop Norwood since last year when we made him presider. Usually the presider makes his way around all the churches but Bishop Norwood stays over seas alllllllll the time in India and Africa building and overseeing churches.
Ahhhh, okay...thank you...

The COOLJC has some who have had some musical professional status...

The late Sam Cooke comes to mind, as well as Bishop Ronald Carter, who before his salvation experience played for Ruby and The Romantics...that's Bishop on the organ on 'Our Day Will Come'.
