Will Hurricane Gustav Deny Republicans Their Turn?
Next week was supposed to be the Republicans turn in the spotlight for a week with their convention in Minnesota.
Now it appears that about the time the RNC convention is supposed to kick off a major catatgory 3, 4 or even 5 hurricane will be hitting the Gulf Coast right around New Orleans.
It appears if the convention does go on about 4 people in each state will be watching as most will be focused on the storm.
Is this going to hurt the Republicans and cause the McCain / Palin ticket to not get the traditional "convention bounce" in the polls?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

CC1,
I was surprised to see Rasmussen polls putting Obama 3 points (49% to 43%) ahead after the leaning figures were added. This after the Convention and Palin announcement.
I think I read that it will take another week or so for the Palin thing to kick in for a better poll.
One good thing is that Obama used to have a 210 to 165 lead in the Electoral College vote. Now he's only leading by 10 - 193 to 183.

I worry that this stupid hurricane will cause the Republicans not to get their turn to make their case in a systematic repetitive fashion.
I don't think they can totally postopone it as I am sure the convention center, hotels, etc all have other obligations following weeks.
At most they might be able to postpone it one day. I read tonight they are thinking about turning it into a telethon for the American Red Cross to help with the aftermath of the hurricane. That is noble but would dilute the presentation of the Republican case of why they should be elected and not the messiah.

I read, somewhere, that they don't normally follow back to back with the Convention before them. Normally there is a week or two between. The Republicans planned this one to follow directly after, so I'm thinking it would probably not make a big difference if they waited.
Well, I'm off to bed so I won't be a grouch when Mr. Morning Cheer gets up. Lord, he's loud in the mornings. Arghhhhh!

My guess is that God didn't have anything to do with either convention.
What happens is going to happen, no matter what man has scheduled.

Light you have a sick way to show your support for america and what it is going thru right now.. your one sick puppy....
The republicans will gain more respect for what they have done by not having this convention right now... they have chosen to put American first and leave the politics alone for the time being which is very respectable

Michael I know God had nothing to do with it as far as intrupting the republican convention.
God doesn't really care one way or another what the republicans do.
Before you bite my head off JUST KIDDING!!!!
