Re: How to Save Money

A few years back I stopped buying Disposable anything. No Paper plates, paper towels, or baggies. I use cloth napkins, I use white rags (18 for $3 at Walmart) in the place of paper towels, and I use containers instead of pastic bags.

Also, most of your cleaning supplies can be replaced with Vinegar and Baking Soda.

One of my favorite uses of Vinegar? It can be used in the Dishwasher in place of the blue rinse aid that costs a fortune.

Check of your local library rather than buying books, and even renting movies (many libraries have extensive DVD collections).

Check out your local freecycle ( www.freecycle.com ), a great way to recycle unneeded items, and to get items you can use for free.

The best thing about these ideas, are not only are they frugal, but they are also good for the environment.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

(Just remember that you can go TOO far. Like my neighbor who sneaks around at 3 in the morning and digs through people's garbage. That's just creepy. )

Re: How to Save Money

I clip coupons, but I am careful to clip only brands I use.
I shop only outlets or sales for clothing. Coldwater Creek has great sales for dress clothes.
For cleaning supplies, I use a teaspoon of bleach, water and a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle. This will kill most germs.
I use the white dish towels and cloth napkins, too.
I change internet and phone providers about once a year. They offer deals to you if you are a new customer. I call my cable provider about once a year and ask them to offer me the new customer rate if I am a valued customer. They usually offer me a cut for about 6 months.

I LOVE FREECYCLE.

Live below ones means... It should be America's new craze.

It would be a craze that would pay off big time.

Which reminds me of an old Jerry Clower joke...

A guy asked him what he feeds his dog...

He replied... Greens.

The man was a little taken aback and retorted "My dog won't eat greens"

To which Jerry replied... My dog wouldn't either... for about a month.

I am actually really good at living frugally. Unfortunately all this market, economy craziness comes at the worst time or me personally. I think that it would have affected me minimally, if not for the whole divorce thing. I was Ok having only two nickels to rub together, but now I have to give one of those to my ex!
