And yes, there are fat cats. There always WILL be fat cats. But there is no BETTER economic system then the free market one for keeping their numbers in check -and in fact lifting the general economic condition of ALL people in the process.
I'd say a fair wage is a wage that is indexed against the cost of living and the poverty level. There are elements of the free market that are very beneficial. However, unfettered the free market would eventually lead us into another Guilded Age. A balance must be reached. If people are paid too little and the rich get too extravagantly wealthy while the masses suffer....it creates the environment where Socialism begins to grow. A mixed and well regulated economy is needed to head off the negatives of both extremes.

The lie is that one has to be either a full capitalist or a full socialist. No sir. There is such a thing as a mixed economy that balances the economy to prevent the extremes of both.

I come from a blue collar union family. It's amazing how companies can pay employees so little that they have to work weekends instead of go to church or take on a second job....meanwhile the CEOs make out like bandits. To make matters worse....all to often it's the little guy on the assembly line working far harder and breaking his back just to put food on his family's table.

I'm not big on welfare....but I am for a fair and living wage (something Republicans disdain). And I have little pitty on fat cats who are filthy rich and making money hand over fist on the backs of hard working Americans who work for a substandard wage.
A Fabian Halloween!

I do understand what you are saying. I've had this discussion with my children. I started saying the "c" word, which is really the "s" word in Spanish. She thought I shouldn't say it. I said, "Well, what difference does it make in what language I pronounce the word? It all means the same thing - fecal matter."
I am not fond of the "c" word either.

We were always taught to not say "slang words" such as that growing up. These words are a substitute for another word. You know what that word is. You wouldn't say the word that it is a substitute for. So don't say the slang word either.

This is also what I teach my children. Not from a YOU'RE GOING TO HELL standpoint... but from the standpoint that we walk, talk and live our lives by the wisdom of our God and, in our opinion, these are things we would do well to keep from our vocabulary.
