I always bought knee highs and then threw out the one with runs and kept the other. I hate pantyhose.

Re: How to Save Money

I saw that with the toilet paper and decided not to go there!
I save on dishwasher liquid - I keep it in a decorative glass container by the sink. Because it is not in a squeeze bottle, I use much less of it and it lasts much longer.

There's a good recycle.

Re: How to Save Money

I think that depression era tightwaddery can actually be a catch-22 and generally unnecessary today. Back then, people didn't have nearly as much disposable stuff. Now people have stuff coming out their ears. I think it is a challenge to be a tightwad and not have too much stuff. I am always getting rid of stuff.

I have a co-worker who wears this coat. It is stained and has two pieces of duct tape on the back. Why would a person want to wear this except on the farm or for heavy labor? A person could buy a reasonably good looking one at a garage sale for a couple of bucks. Or, if they are that much in need, there are many places that give away good coats this time of year. Maybe this person wears their coat like a sign "I am a tightwad". Or "I am broke". I think the goal should be to look as normal as possible. I think this pays for itself in good public relations and perhaps a promotion that you may otherwise get passed over for.

Just some thoughts.

Re: How to Save Money

Hey, when we were young and poor, I did the pantyhose thing many times. You just have to make sure you buy the same brand and color all the time. I'm not above doing it again, except (Praise the Lord!) I've been delivered from pantyhose!! Woohoo! Think of all the money I'm saving.

Re: How to Save Money

OK looked at the "TEST" - I am sorry folks - but, I don't think I can pass any one of them. It's certainly not that I am too good to do it if needed. For me it's about time. It seems most of those things take time to think about and do or make. I just don't have the time.
