What are your thoughts on this?

Is this Pastor out of line?

Is this a burden on married couples to have to set aside "quality time" like this every day?

Will the Pastor get adequate participation in this?

Can prayer become "legalistic"?

I think this is a good challenge (its not a requirement) for a Pastor to to give his saints. I think we may even give it a try ourselves.

Re: Seven Days of Prayer... Woo Hoo!! :)

I pray almost every day. Some days, the prayers are really, really short and I have to make myself slow down so as to spend time with Him instead of reciting a warmed over "thank you Jesus" from 3 nights ago.

I am going to use this week as an attempt to create some consistency with my prayer life.

Some months back I started a prayer session with my dear wife and 2 sons.

It is not some weird time to push on the kids.

My son John is 18 and son Cody is 14.

Together we all get in a circle and hold hands.

We pray for certain things continually.

We will change out a prayer once it has been answered.

We have skipped a few nights when my son has worked.

Or when things got really busy.

I can tell you they let us know every night we need to pray.

The reason being we have experienced a mini revival in our family.

Not one to be preached around the world.

Just one of closeness.

We have seen several large miracles answered in our lives.

It has been a personal putting God into faith in our lives.

I would recommend this to all families.....

Re: Seven Days of Prayer... Woo Hoo!! :)

Requiring specific amounts of prayer is about as bad as requiring specific amounts of, well, other things.

BUT, couples who pray together probably have a better relationship all the way around, including the woo-hoo part.

I would say, even, that praying with your spouse requires more openness and intimacy than sex. (Assuming it's not the rote, time-consuming, fill-the-dead-space kind of prayers Pentecostals are good at, when they just want to look spiritual.)

I love for my husband to pray for me. I'll ask him before anyone else.

I am going to use this week as an attempt to create some consistency with my prayer life.

I have set a time aside.

When I am in the situation.

I will pray everytime.

When I am in my car and not on my cell phone for work from customer appointment to appointment.

I will turn the radio down and pray during the drive.

If we are given a phone in our line of work to be more efficient with our time.

Then why can't I take that same principle into my walk and conversations with Christ.

It is amazing how awesome an appointment can go when 5 minutes earlier you were praying in the spirit.

In doing this praying an hour a day is nothing....

I don't know why many ministers stay away from the statement in scripture..."Pray without ceasing".

Many sure are glad the scripture did not have a longer list...

I appreciated reading that post/testimony. We may give it a try praying that way.
