When I watched this video my heart just sank. My heart ached for those little innocent babies that were murdered. I am beyond shocked to know a lot of christians voted for Obama, knowing that he supports abortion!!! Just for that fact I did not vote for him. Those slaughtered babies did not have a voice. I have decided to be an even louder voice for those unborn. This video is very graphic but it is what happens when a baby is aborted.
The truth of the matter is Christians and churches ARE doing much to minister to women with unwanted pregnancies far more than the liberal abortion advocate groups are and theyey have for may years.
A significant percentage of orphanages are Christian operated. In my hometown there was a Christian organization called "Heartbeats" that provided proactive abstinence education for teens, counseling and abortion alternatives for women with unwanted pregnancies, counseling for women who had abortions to deal with the trauma and guilt as well as counseling for the fathers of aborted babies who had no say in whether their child was murdered or not. A similar ministry is here where we live called "Life Choices". I have met some of the directors of that group and we are looking for ways to partner with them.
The diversion of "the church isn't doing enough" does not change the fact that although R v. W hasn't been overturned, its been a plank in the GOP platform to overturn it for three decades now. Official Democrat policy is to preserve legalized abortions and has been since its inception. Voting Republican isn't a sure fire way to end abortions, but voting Democrat is almost a 100% surety to keep them legal.
We, the church, could do more for sure, but the church is doing much to provide ministry to those most affected by unwanted pregnancies.
My sister has a barren womb. She does however have three beautiful children all adopted from women who could've chosen abortion but each one carried the baby to term, gave birth and then gave the child to my sister and her husband. Their eldest son is a hardworking, 20 year old who is in love and is great with his money and wants to get married next year. Very talented too. The other son is 12 and is a sharp cookie. He loves to hunt and fish with my dad. The 6 year old is a daughter and she is as pretty as can be with brilliant blue eyes. None of us could stand the thought to not have of them in our family. They are each one of us.
I wonder how many stories we'll never know because someone decided to kill the life of a promising little boy or girl because they couldn't afford to raise the child or b/c they didn't want to be bothered. Sad to think of my nephews and neice as dead.
Bro... planet earth is an ugly place.
My position is that the state is incapable of policing the issue. I know if my wife were in a situation where abortion was an option...that choice would be ours...not the state's.
I think it's best to leave the choice in the mother's hands...plead that she choose life and minister to her needs.
I don't agree with most abortions that happen. But at the same time I don't feel the Government can adequately address the issue.
Anyway...we're going to have to move from depending on the GOP to depending on GOD.
Abortion would have remained legal for generations anyway and it is a pipe dream to think that any of these so called pro life candidates everybody drools over would have every changed that.
They have not in the past.
They will not in the future.
They just know the songs you like and they sing them well.
Until people wake up and vote in some real change then no real change is going to happen.
But they will be happy to perform the song and dance for you each and ever election cycle for decades on end since all the "pro life" folks require is election time tickling of the ears. They don't require real action... maybe a little token movement here and there... but with all of the pomp & circumstance pro lifers don't require an end to abortion... they simply require that someone say they are on their side with their words even if their actions speak volumes otherwise.
Amen. The "conservatives" have been manipulating the religious convictions of so many of our brothers and sisters. They are essentially in the pockets of the corporations and banks that have fleeced the American people dry and destroyed the economy.

Who's said anything about not depending on God?
The state is incapable of policing the issue? How was it that it was good enough for nearly 200 years of our history to be the law of the land, but suddenly we need to make it legal?
Yes there will always be abortions, but that is no excuse to sanction it, fund it and for so-called doctors to make a living off of it as a society.
Since the GOP has done FAR MORE to try to restrict abortion at the least and outlaw it at best than the Dems, I will continue to vote Republcn. As far as depending on them all I can do is pray and then vote my conscience. My conscience won't allow me to vote for pro-abortion candidates.

There is no try.
They had control of the House and Senate for 6 years.
There is no try.
There is "do" and "didn't do".
I'm telling you, the GOP is filled with MANIPULATORS, waving the abortion carrot in your face to keep you coming back every time.
The only thing more uglier than a senseless murder is a man or woman who uses that death for political gain!
That is EXACTLY what the GOP does!
So do the Democrats-- only their carrot is something else, waved in the face of others who vote with emotion over their senses, at times.

the congress has absolutly nothing to do with most abortions 1399.
The republican congress did pass a partial birth abortion ban and George Bush signed it into law. so they did do what they could.
GWB did appoint 2 justices to the court that seem sympathetic to the notion of over turning Roe which is all that can be done on the subject of abortion.
So it is wrong to suggest that Republicans have done nothing but waive a carrot. The fact is, there are 4 solid votes against Roe on the court and 5 that still support it. 1 of those was appointed by GHWB (David Souter) thinking he would be a conservative justice and it turns out that was very very wrong. a second was appointed by Reagan (Kennedy) and he is a swing vote who has voted in favor of roe. The third republican who supports Roe was on the court from the 1970s (Stevens) and he really was appointed before there was a movement in the Republican party to get rid of Roe so you cannot count him.
so Republicans have appointed 4 current justices who oppose roe and 2 that support it. That is far more than waiving a carrot.

So let's instead vote for the ones who we KNOW without a doubt will do what they can to assure that abortion remains legal, and who we know without a doubt will support gay marriage.

...or how about if you are determined to give someone your moral vote, you make them promise specific courses of action that you can hold them to and prevent it all from becoming empty rhetoric dramatically highlighted every election cycle then pushed waaaaaay to the back burner every Nov. 5...less it all become a smokescreen where they don't have to answer for the millions of abortions nor the hundred other things we should be holding them to...less they be completely unnaccountable and enjoy the unconditional support that can be gained by convincing someone that God demands that they vote for them...

As Ferd so aptly explained, there isn't much a President, or congress, can do to turn back abortion, other than appointing supreme court justices who would be in favor of overturning it, and enacting laws limiting how legal abortions can be performed. Republicans have done both...Democrats have done neither.
