there have been a few "statements" lobbed here and there...but no real war. I think in most areas....people see the value of having both churches.

I know my pastor we associate with the ALJC and he has bad mouthed the UPC churches in our area before on Sunday mornings I think the ALJC is not liking the direction the UPC is going..thats just my 2 cents I could really care less who likes who...

Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)

i've been around/fellowshipped both for all my life...as well as the PAW...and some other groups.

IMO...every church meets a need. there are some people who need/want a church/pastor who is very controlling....others need/want one who is not so controlling....etc...but I do not believe there is any need for any minister to "bash" another church.

if a church chooses to have certain rules....why is that "cultish"?

couldn't it just be opinion...or variety?

IF it is taught in a way that 'if you don't do this then you are sinning' or as a requirement to attend/join then it crosses the line.

Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)

Well mabey cultish was a little hard but why have a rule that has nothing to do with the bible, jesus, salvation to be able to part of leadership or platform.. If there is a pastor on here that does this please tell me the reason why...

What is the purpose of having these "rules"? If this is not a salvation issue then what's the point. Or is it really a salvation issue? If so then there would be scripture to support.

Can the saints not hear the leading of the Holy Ghost? Is it ONLY the leadership that is "in tune" enough.

If the leadership must make every decision for the people - then why do they have the HG? Would it make sense that ONLY those in leadership have it since they are making all the rules?

Just seems to be contradictory to scripture. I have no issues with someone holding to a standard because that is what they feel is necessary for them but to try and enforce it on others is plain and simple.... wrong.
