That's makes sense, women can seduce with their eyes. So with that, what's the purpose of eye makeup?

[And wanton eyes] "And falsely setting off their eyes with paint." Hebrew, falsifying their eyes. I take this to be the true meaning and literal rendering of the word; from shaaqar. This arose, as I imagine, from their supposing that the word was the same with saaqar, Chaldee, "intueri, innuere oculis;" or that it had an affinity with the noun sikra, which the Chaldeans, or the rabbis at least, use for stibium, the mineral which was commonly used in colouring the eyes. See Jarchi's comment on the place. Though the colouring of the eyes with stibium be not particularly here expressed, yet I suppose it to be implied; and so the Chaldee paraphrase explains it; stibio linitis oculis, "with eyes dressed with stibium." This fashion seems to have prevailed very generally among the Eastern people in ancient times; and they retain the very same to this day.

Are wanton eyes sin? and is it painting them as Adam Clarke says?

Girly girls usually like frills and furbelows.... and playing with cosmetics. It's very rarely used for seduction purposes by your average Jane.

So could eye makeup play into this? Like what's the purpose of eye makeup? To bring attention to the eyes, right? Why do they eyes have to be painted to look at people?

Why are you focusing only on the 2nd half of the verse? It says first, "lust not after her beauty...."

Why does hair have to be curled and nicely fixed? Why do we wear pretty clothes? In my opinion, it's simply part of our God-given desire to beautify the world around us. And ourselves. For some, it's an artistic, creative outlet. I love to make things beautiful.... my home, my yard, myself.

(for the record, I don't wear eye shadow, for reasons I have previously explained, but I don't think it's sinful)

Well, I'm not a man... but I've noticed no difference in the effect women have on men, whether their eyes are made up or not. Like I said, I've seen several wanton Apostolic women, and they seemed to attract men just fine without made-up eyelids. So, in my opinion, no. But maybe men will know better about that.

Can it be refering to her beauty based on vanity such as makeup, jewelry and such.....

I know it just says eyelids, not painted eyelids, but why do women paint there eyes if not for that purpose? It's not for other women, is it?
