Re: The Word Shekinah ?

I remember a brother, hispanic, as he was new to preaching one time kept saying "Knee uh mee uh"...he was not speaking in tongues. He was referring to a bible character that a book is named after...it took a little while but we realized he was referring to Nehemiah

In Matthew 1, he is named in the lineage of (possibly Joseph's). Also in Matthew 1,
you will find David's son, Solomon, mentioned. But in Luke 3 (possibly Mary's line),
you will find they left Jechonias name out, and instead of Solomon listed as David's son,
here you will find another son of David named. NATHAN. Could this be the same Nathan
that told David, "Thou art the man". How humbling would that be to a minister to hear
his son say, "Dad, you have been committing adultery". If David had a son who was a king,
could he not also have had a son that was a prophet!

Remember, Joseph wasn't Jesus father.

Just some thoughts,

Re: The Word Shekinah ?

FWIW: The word "rapture" is in the Bible as every good Catholic apologist will be more than happy to point out to you in 1 Thessalonians 4:17.

And for TJJJ and Scott - the word "shekinah" is NOT "cloud" neither is it "glory" in Exodus 24:16 and Exodus 40:35. It is the Hebrew word that is translated as "abode" in both verses. The word is used as both a noun and a verb.

The word "shekinah" appears a total of 129 times in the Bible.

I believe Rhoni needs to free up some time on her calendar for a date with a couple of gentlemen who will buy her dinner.

Again, what verse is it that has Shekinah in the KJV Bible, I failed to read it! Please direct me to it. We are still at an impasse! It is nowhere in the english OT. We can play Hebrew games all day, but the original point was, where is the word used in our Bible. If the word SHAKAN is abode then it still is not Shekinah! Furthermore, the translators felt the need to translate it as abode and etc.

I repeat, for the cost of a ruth Chris steak, where is the word Shekinah mentioned in the Old Testament. We have Shakan, we have clouds, we have glory, we have abode, but still no shekinah!

Again, I have no problem with anyone using the word, they can say it is from the word Shakan, glory, cloud, whatever! But the Steak depends upon it being in a verse! Technicalities, technicalities!!

Re: The Word Shekinah ?

This is what it says;

Exo 24:16 And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

This is what you say it ought to say:

Exo 24:16 And the glory of the LORD SHAKAN upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

Again, still not Shekinah!!!

MMMMMMMMMMMMMHHHHHHHHHH, Steak with loaded baked potato and some steamed veggies! I can taste it already!!!!

Lord Bless

You grieved. That's called guilt. Same principle works in men who were taught to feel guilt for having facial hair, despite the fact that the bible does not teach it.

Feelings are subjective. Catholics have feelings for Mary and FEEL that she is hearing their prayers. So be careful about what you feel. Muslims experience feelings too and attribute it to Allah.

That is beside the main point, the bible makes no connection between God's glory on a woman and her hair.

Brother,
That is YOUR opinion and you are not a woman and it's not your hair!

After we receive the Holy Ghost, IF we are led by that Spirit, we will be-
come the sons and daughters of the LORD ALMIGHTY. The Spirit should do
the leading. Saul quit obeying GOD and decided for himself what he would
do. Bad decision, sad ending!

No disrepect intended!

Saul/OT was anointed by a prophet of God. Saul disobeyed. God gave the
anointing to another. Samuel, the prophet who anointed Saul, grieved over
Saul. God got angry and told Samuel that Saul had not rejected him, but
that Saul had rejected God Himself. That OBEDIENCE was better than sacri-
fice.

Saul/NT (of the same tribe, Benjamin) who became Paul after his conversion,
was used mightily of God in the NT. This man of God, who wrote much of the
NT in dimly lit underground prisons. No typewriter, computer, etc.. We have
been provided the Word of God from those who, through much difficulty and
tribulation, gave us the Word.

I don't believe Paul would have written the first 16 verses of I Cor.11, only
to say, "Do what YOU want, it really doesn't matter anyway.

God removed King Saul's anointing because he took matters into his own
hands, thinking it didn't matter. God's anointing remains on those who
have received the Holy Ghost Anointing, as long as they OBEY GOD"S
WORD, and FOLLOW THE LEADING OF HIS SPIRIT!

Obedience is better than sacrifice and to hearken than the fat of rams. For
rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubborness is as iniquity and idola-
try. Samuel told Saul, "Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD. HE
hath also rejected thee from being king. Samuel mourned Saul and God re-
pented that He had made Saul king over Israel.

OBEDIENT FAITH means much to GOD! And without FAITH it is impossible to
please GOD. For he that cometh to God must believe that HE is and that HE
is a REWARDER of them that diligently seek HIM. WISE MEN AND WOMEN
STILL SEEK HIM!

It is every individual's responsibility to work out your own salvation with fear
and trembling. The fear of the LORD is the BEGINNING of WISDOM. It is also
the BEGINNING of KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING!

I believe there is a severe lack of the fear, knowledge and understanding
of GOD!

No offense intended.

Re: The Word Shekinah ?

I would buy Rhoni a steak, but I don't find the word Shekinah in a single bible verse,I don't practice Talmudic Judaism,so I don't know anything about a femine nature of God,nor do I follow the Kabballa so it's concepts are foreign to me.

The word was coined from verbal cognates in the Bible which describe the "presence" of God in a locality. The verbal cognates are copiously used to describe the "Shekinah" appearances. The word "Shekinah," the concept, as I have defined it, clearly is. The word most certainly is derived from "shakan," and whoever first used the word "Shekinah" coined it as a substantive (noun form) from the verbal forms used to describe the "abiding, dwelling, or habitation" of the physical manifestations of God described in Ex 24:16; Ex 40:35, Nu 9:16-18; and numerous other places where "shakan" is used. The word is also used to describe the mystical "Shekinah" presence in the tabernacle. The word "mishkan," ( ), a derivative of "shakan," (), is often translated "tabernacle." The Hebrew for tabernacle is more often simply "ohel," (), or tent. "Mishkan" means "dwelling place." That is, the "dwelling place" of "Him who dwells" or "Shekinah."
YAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!YOU DID IT!!DONT LISTEN TO THEM! YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!! Now I feel a little sheepish.
