Not false hope at all. She very much was healed.

No doubt this woman was asking/believing in the will of God.

I do not think this is meant to be a precedent for all sick and dying people - quite the opposite actually.

The temporal miracles, when they do occur are given to bring glory to God also, but the greatest faith I have witnessed is without question those who glorified God and kept the faith through sickness and dying.

I do not discount the possibility that in some cases we may succeed in receiving our wishes through pleading - though it could be debated whether that is to our benefit or detriment.

Now if you mean an instant miracle of healing - like if a guy goes through a prayer line and comes out with a new leg where a stump was... there you have it. If he comes by wearing a new prosthetic device - well that is kewl too, but most would prefer the former.

Re: Serious question

Medicine is good, and in some cases a demon spirit is the cause. A woman was bowed over for 18 years physically, and Jesus cast a spirit of infirmity out of her and she was healed.
Luke 13:11-13 KJV And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. (12) And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. (13) And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Not everything is healing, but may involve deliverance.

And also, Jesus said to one whom He healed to not sin lest a worse thing come upon him.
John 5:14 KJV Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
There are many reasons why people get sick again after genuine healing.

Yes, I was talking about miracles.

Amazed doctors are a good indicator, perhaps, but lots of natural processes are quite amazing, too. But what I'm looking for is a case where there is no doubt that it could not possibly have happened without divine intervention. Growing a new leg from a stump would be an excellent candidate!
