He didn't do it in South Texas district... he was the soul of moderation if anything. Have you seen him kill off innocents out of hard hearted-ness? Examples would be helpful.

A little backgrounder... first, my rather bizarre post ABOUT THE SUBJECT OF THIS THREAD was made in the midst of several pages of discussions on the appropriate amount to tip a waitress - a fine subject FOR A DIFFERENT THREAD! And, I succeeded in getting the discussion back on track.
Also, I have known the subject of the thread for quite some time - not in a way that I would describe as "closely," but we have shared the platform, I once "debated" him in a public forum - but spent most of my allotted time praising him - and I traveled around the country for a bit selling his books back in "the long ago before time."
Take what I said for what it's worth and notice the scary "quote marks."
Oh, and you are correct about his "people skills" - particularly when it comes to ministerial type disputes and district politics. The man is a fount of wisdom.

Re: 10.01.09-The End of Haneywood - D. Bernard New
I have known DB for quite a while. He has studied how to manage people from an early age- ( I do not mean this in a bad way) I think one of his majors in college focused on this- he graduated with a double major. I do believe that he is much more moderate than his books protray. (He wrote his first book(s) with his mother who is much more hard line.) I think he can be a healer to the organization, if he is given the opporturnity. That is a big if- I wish him all the best.

Reading the last chapter of his last book I almost shouted. Well done, well said. And ever so circumspect. He spoke volumes in the things that he DIDN'T say.

In praying for the GC before it started, I felt the presence of the Lord, and I know He has it all under control. God's hand was in this promotion.

Having spoken with Bro. Bernard this morning, as well as some very close to him, I can say the above assessments are accurate. He will be a blessing to the UPCI.

Titus2woman on AFF
"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
