Not trying to approach you in an accusatory way, but WOW, man, uh-- this is really disturbing, if it's really the truth.

I hope that you choose to verify this "fact", somehow.

I'd love to hear this sermon and to hear the context of your rendition of what Wayne Huntley said in that sermon in West Monroe, LA.

Not accusing,

In all fairness, I think this was before the big TV issues so a lot of these men, in my opinion were trying to defend why they had such growing churches and a lot of folks not following the standards. Recently I have seen these same men swing way back to the right in an attempt to prove the WPF that they aren't liberals.

Re: Statement of Apostolic Policy

What are you guys getting so uptight about with that church? Great laws that they have.

I think it is great that they have everythig posted open, what a wonderful idea. I agree with the person who said something about truth in advertising. Open and transparent.

Why are people upset? If you don't like it don't go.

I personally don't like that kind of thing but apparently there are some who do like it and apparently need that type of control in their lives. I do believe that some people have to have a structured and ordered lifestyle in order to make it.

If you don't like it then leave it alone. If you have liberty in your life and the strength to walk that then do, but not everyone is that strong. Apparently the people who attend that church like that control and heavy handed type of administration, they prove it by their attendance week after week.

Re: Statement of Apostolic Policy

Their whole succession thing is a bit silly and definately unbiblical, BUT
with the whole backstory of the chaos that occured when SC Johnson died with no established chain of leadership to following I can see why they would want to make awfully sure that didn't happen again.

Re: Statement of Apostolic Policy

Having come from a very strict UC background, I have some understanding of why they do what they do, with out agreeing with that belief.

I think in ten or twenty years they will look back and say, wow, did we really do that? But for now, it is what they need to keep structure in their lives.

I know many of them that fit in that catagory, and I believe that they will change, ....

In twenty years or so!

LOL

Here is the link with their contact information. If anyone is really curious about this sermon I am sure it could be ordered from them. I can't pinpoint the year with absolute certainty but I am almost positive it would be 2007.

The Pentecostals of West Monroe are one the most classy and organized churches you will ever have dealings with. They are always willing to help other churches.

Re: Statement of Apostolic Policy

Wll, it looks as if you all cannot understand the simple words Of Jesus, in what He states is how the world can kmow you are His.

Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

I went back, not to the original, to get a more proper interpretation of this passage and found it often is translated like this.

Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have the proper uniform and the look the organization determines is what you will look like.
