You know the answer from some people would be yes, right? But the problem is, you wouldn't find too many people who were vegans in the stricter sense who would ever be comfortable in such a capacity. For their sake as well as that of the restaurant, it would often be best for them to fill other roles in life.

Maybe. If the vegetarian knows how to run a business and bring in customers, you bet.

The Commissioner of the PGA Tour is a hack and his next-in-line couldn't break 100 if his life depended on it.

Bolded part is a valid point.

Seems like it would depend on how strongly the Vegan is opposed to meat consumption or if it's just a personal preference.

And this is a "Board of Directors" in accordance with IRS law, and not a "Board of Deacons." True, you don't meet the biblical qualification of a "Deacon". But then again, half the time, I feel like I don't!
In that case, sign me up! (Assuming the salary and benefits package is adequate! )

Re: Would You Put Timmy On Your Church Board?

NoW, congratulations! You've just hired Timmy to do, ummm... something for your church, on a board of directors in accordance with IRS laws. Salary: at least $75,000/yr plus bonuses for each tax audit passed. Benefits: must include moving expenses, house, company (church) car, full health insurance, term life, ADD, and profit sharing (meaning you share all profits with him...)

How about it???

Hmm... maybe I need to join that board, too!

Watch it, Timmy, I haven't told you my salary requirements yet!

(That will be a $5000 negotiating fee, plus $100/hr hereafter for further negotiations... and 10% of all salary once beginning said position...)

Hey, I like this...

I like Timmy. He's kind, gentle, understanding, non-confrontational, knows the bible very well, dependable, and consistent. Recently, I had a personal crisis that could have been devastating, and Timmy was one of the first I contacted. I didn't ask him to pray but I said, "If you ever would, I could sure use it." I trust him.

He also has a great understanding of the church and how it operates. He sees the power of community and has some great perspectives of the redemptive potential of the church. I haven't asked what he does for a living but I get the impression his business sense is very good.

So I once told Timmy I wish he lived here in my area and would love to have him in our church (we openly embrace those who don't wear the label of "Christian") and if he did I'd have him on our church board.

I mentioned it in another thread today and that idea didn't exactly go over very well.

So....what do you think. Would you have him on your church board considering the qualities I mentioned?
Is this what listening to Erwin McManus can do to a person?

Wow.
