Wow...
I thought I was a pretty progressive fellow but this thread has been an eye opener.

To me this is completely unwise and is opening a door for people that the church just has no business whatsoever introducing people to or furthering their familiarity with.

Well, either your facing a situation you do now wish to acknowledge, or you are not aware of the caliber of disaster indicated by having a square dance in our church!
Wellllllllllll, ya got trouble my friend!

Honestly, I don't see it as a problem at all for even NON married couples. What is wrong with having something for couples period?
I do think having a square dance is a little silly.... Why not a real dance, like your classic waltz or swing?

I don't understand the statement.
I feel that I am aware of the caliber of disaster this is.
It seems no one else is.
Where's Epley when I need him.

Re: Square Dancing at Church??
Well, it's a little over the top to me, but I'm old fashioned that way. Ha!
We don't have dancing in our church, even at wedding receptions. If they want to dance, they have to have the reception offsite.
It's not that I think dancing in itself is a sin (between married couples especially), but if you allow it at weddings, then you have to allow it at teenager birthday parties when they use the church, and it can just lead to some stuff we don't want here.
That's just our policy - not saying it's for everyone!!

The event isn't planned for the sanctuary as part of a worship service. It's in a multi-use hall.
