Well the points of Ferd are correct. THe person is well spoken and obviously SHOULD HAVE SOME CLUE how churches are sometimes. If you don't your blind as a bat and clueless or simply not giving all the info. The oh my I can't believe "some" people would do such is seriously questionable of anyone with any common sense. We see how people are all the time on this stuff even IN the church or at work, in the family or wherever. I find it amusing myself at such SUPRISE! My first question is what rock was this person under for so long that has never seen such lawless accusation toward anyone or at other churches. I am not taking up for the people who did such as I don't know the basis of all that has happened. Yes, some of the tone may have been a little hot but the points in general are correct. To me I was struck the same way in part as it did Ferd. Baptist, Methodist, and tons of other churches do the SAME THING! Humanity and it's natural instincts to label are not limited to the UPC Seeing such happen especially "positionally" should clearly be known and take with a grain of salt. As when people feel left and cast off, words and rumor spread and usually improper accusations are made. MAN UP you made a choice of action... you started down the road of what you should know would be hurtful to people and don't be ignorant that some bricks may be coming your way.

Sad , but one thing is you have to do what is right for you and as Jesus is leading . The UPC [ not all ] DO THINK THAT THEY ARE THE ONLY WAY . However there are other Organizations that teach truth and hold to truth. In the end God alone is the Judge . People may not understand but do what God wants, He alone is who you serve. I have had this happen to me, it is hard because of the friendships you may lose . However God holds your salvation.

Jeffrey, I don't see anyone condoning the actions of the church people. Some people are just surprised that the original poster is 'surprised'. We know what reactions will be when we leave a church, usually. Doesn't make it right, but we know what to expect for the most part.
And it's not just Pentecostals. It happens all over.

Well the points of Ferd are correct. THe person is well spoken and obviously SHOULD HAVE SOME CLUE how churches are sometimes. But when things happen to a person, the reality is on a whole new level. To be appalled that he is shocked at their behavior, their irrational judgementalism is not understandable in the least. If you don't your blind as a bat and clueless or simply not giving all the info. *rolls eyes*The oh my I can't believe "some" people would do such is seriously questionable of anyone with any common sense. ????We see how people are all the time on this stuff even IN the church or at work in the family or wherever. Ifind it amusing myself at such SUPRISE! Well excuse this brother for being surprised. How dare he!! TL doesn't think he ever should be. Could it be some are naive about their church? Think they are all saints? Grew up believing they were saviors and gods? Not that that's not ever implied in their teaching or anything.... My first question is what rock was this person under for so long that has never seen such lawless accusation toward them. You have no point. ON the basis that this has happened before, they have no right to express their own personal outrage? I am not taking up for the people who did such as i don't know the basis of all that has happened. Sure sounds like you give them more the benefit of the doubt than this brother. Yes, some of the tone may have been a little hot but the points in general are correct on most of it. to me it was struck me the same way in part as it did Ferd. Baptist, Methodist, and tons of other churches do the SAME THING! Which baptist church did your family leave recently? Praying for your soul??? Don't think so. Humanity and it's natural instincts to label are not limited to the UPC and seeing such happen especially positionally should clearly be known and take with a grain of salt. Oh, you should be smart enough to know there are some very unique issues with UPC, Classical Pentecostals, etc... you just like the code "everybody does that." Fact is, if this is happening in "other churches" it's just as evil. As when people feel left and cast off words and rumor spread and usually improper accusations are made. This isn't just somebody leaving and getting our little feelings hurt that they don't like our church anymore... it's people praying for the man's soul. Ridiculous.

It's easy to say *yawn* "not surprised." But this brother is going through it right now! He feelings are shock and horror.
If it's common for people to be harrassed when leaving a church, and having their soul prayed for because they are VISITING another church, SHAME! I refuse to fellowship with any church where they yawn at this and consider it normal.
