So heavenly minded we're no earthly good??

This is not directed at anyone in particular. Just Been Thinkin........

Is it possible, that we at times spiritualize way too much of everyday life?

Are there somethings that God simply wants us to go ahead and take care of?

I heard of one individual that had gotten to the point of being so spiritual that she almost prayed like this...."Lord is it okay if I go to the bathroom?"

Am I being too carnal to think that I need to do some things and make some decisions just because I am mentally capable of doing so? And have the wisdom to do so!

And of course, I know the other side of the coin! "So earthly minded we're no heavenly good!"

Where is the balance?

Just saying.....

Re: So heavenly minded we're no earthly good??

That is a good issue to think about.

I recently ministered about the entire scope of the Kingdom today. GOD TOUCHING HEARTS. Paul preached the only reason Jesus was made Prince and Saviour at the Right Hand, where is also king of kings and Lord of Lords, is to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel, and everyone else, of course. All that ELABORATE KINGDOM work of resurrecting Him to sit at that Kingdom Throne of David was to TOUCH AND CHANGE HEARTS.

Some think the KINGDOM WILL BE concerned over politics and governments and so on. That is so much a joke to God and His Kingdom is far beyond and above that sort of thing. His concern is the HEARTS of people and how SIN damages them, and nothing else ever.

It just made me think more of the earthly good He wants us to accomplish in that area of thought.

Re: So heavenly minded we're no earthly good??

Yes, there are people who carry spirituality WAY to far in the way they "seek the Lord" for every micro-decision they make in life. My wife had a friend who was like this and literally asked God what to do as she walked from room to room. (This is a person who was a member of 3 or 4 major religions before finding Christianity and has since bought into our old pastors bizarre teachings on marital relations simply because he IS the "man of God".)
The immediate danger in such thinking is that the person interprets every gurgle of the stomach or distant bell ring as a sign of this or that as well as the near certainty that they will fall into serious error due to the wishy washy nature of their emotions. It can get quite comical if it wasn't so serious.

That's about like I've heard people say that they give so much to God that they can't pay their bill.... it all sounds good, but I've never really ever seen it.

Re: So heavenly minded we're no earthly good??

I know there will be some who will disagree with what I am going to say............

But they have been wrong before..........Just Kidding.....

There are somethings you definitely don't have to go to God for...........I will give
you one example.......... A wife is being abused by her husband(either phyiscal or
verbally)

Ask God what to do? Heck no!!! Run as fast as you can!! I don't care how much
bible me or anyone else knows.

You don't have to stay..................Case closed. If you do................Smith and Wesson
will do!! Case closed!!

IMO, yes. You say you've never seen it, but a lot of people have. But I suppose that's a matter of opinion. Maybe some folks think it's just fine to ask God what to wear every morning. Some think it's weird. Just sayin'.

I'd say most "Sin" is a by-product of a broken heart because one of the things He came to do is heal the broken hearted...
