I haven't seen that. My pastor preaches against sin.

You must have been around for a long time.

Where did you hear that?

I have been in Pentecost for over 30 years and have never heard that.

Many Pentecostal preachers teach their young minister that they should wear long sleeves.

They believe that if saints are to live holy the ministry should do more, thus the long sleeves.

And Jesus is the only saving name in the bible....

(Acts 2:38) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

This is a commandment not a request.

Preaching against sin from the bible is not "lording it" over anyone.

And today that is exactly what people don't want.

Because the scripture is being fulfilled again which says....

II Ti 4:4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
What would consider "lording it" over someone to look or sound like?

I don't remember reading that requirement in the books of Titus and Timothy. I don't recall anything about living to a higher level as a minister. Does that mean it is okay for the laity to drink, to have more than one wife, to not discipline their children...etc?

Yes, it is a command. Read again, "be baptized every one of you" not, say this or that WHEN baptizing someone. WE need to have the baptism of Christ, not John's baptism, not some other baptism. Back then, baptism was something common among religion. It wasn't unique to Christianity. The person being baptized needs to be baptized in the name of Jesus, not have someone else say the name of Jesus for them. THEY need to be calling on Jesus for THEIR salvation.

Oh, by the way, I WAS baptized with someone saying all the right words before I went under. But I doubt God cared what they were saying, I think what mattered is what was going on inside of my heart. It is all about my salvation, not the person baptizing me.

What do I think it would look like? Someone who doesn't lead by example but drives the flock with rules and beats them with words.

(Acts 22:16) And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Are sins mentioned in the bible rules?

If a preacher preaches against the sins mentioned in the bible is he beating the saints with words?
