Happy Halloween?

I can't believe it. So close to Halloween and not one thread about the evils of celebrating Halloween. So.... read on.

Happy Halloween?
Is there any good reason for a Christian to celebrate it?

For many children, Halloween is an evening of masquerading for "tricks or treats". For some it may be a relatively innocent evening, but for others it is not. It is an evening when morals, modesty and restraints are forgotten. It is not really an innocent "trick or treat" adventure in costumes that children and some parents love.

How much do you really know about this haunted holiday?... It has roots and overtones of Satanism and devil worship. The word "trick" carries with it a tragic and sometimes deadly meaning. Webster defines "trick" as "...something designed to swindle."

Could a more appropriate word be found to describe the methods employed by the Devil - the greatest swindler of all time? The Devil, the masterful trickster: as one who "transforms himself into an angel of light ...his ministers also are transformed as the ministers of righteousness: whose end shall be according to their works" (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). The Devil's clever trick is to make believe that he does not exist. Satan hides behind a mask; people picture him as a red man with horns and a tail, something harmless to joke about. But the Bible says:

I John 5:19 "... the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one."
The Origin of Halloween
Halloween and its practices are Roman Catholic and Pagan in origin. From the Encyclopedia Britannica: "In its strictly religious aspect, this occasion is known as the vigil of Hallowmas of All Saint's Day, Nov. 1, observed by the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches. Pope Gregory III (731 to 741 AD) assigned this date for celebrating of the feast when he consecrated a chapel in Saint Peter's basilica to all the saints. Gregory the IV extended the feast to the entire Roman Catholic church in 834 AD" "There is little doubt that the Roman Catholic church sought to eliminate or supplant the Druid festival of the dead by introducing the alternative observance of All Saint's Day on Nov. 1."

" after the Reformation, Protestants rejected this feast along with other important ones such as Christmas or Easter."
- Colliers Encyclopedia
Associated through its name with Allhallows Eve. Popular secular observance of Halloween, falling on the night of Oct. 31, is derived from the rights of the Druids celebrating the day of Samhain (pronounced sow-en), the so called "lord of death", when the "Lord of Death" called together the souls of the wicked who had died during the past year. The theme of harvest, which runs through modern Halloween celebrations, comes from both the old Druidic celebrations and the old Roman Catholic festivals in honor of Pomona, goddess of fruit, brought to Britain during the Roman occupation."

God's Word Condemns such Pagan Practices
The Bible says much about the practices from which modern Halloween festivities are taken. The nation of Israel was specifically warned against the very same practices that are part of the modern Halloween.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 "When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. {10} "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, {11} "or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. {12} "For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you.
Jeremiah 10:2 Thus says the LORD: "Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
But they did not obey.

2 Kings 17:17-18 And they caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and soothsaying, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger. {18} Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them from His sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah alone.
Commands to Christ's Church
Ephesians 5:11-12 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. {12} For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
1 Corinthians 10:14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
2 Corinthians 6:16-18 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." {17} Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." {18} "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."
2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Trick or Treat?
The "trick or treat" concept implies the threat of force and violence. To teach children such attitudes and concepts is completely contrary to Christ.

Matthew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" {37} Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' {38} "This is the first and great commandment. {39} "And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' {40} "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
Since these practices are contrary to Gods commands, we should not take part in them.

Do not let Satan neutralize your Christian walk, by mixing with it pagan or satanic practices. If it is not of God it is of the flesh and the world: Ephesians 6:12

Do not allow the Devil to trick you into thinking you must wait until you die to be saved from "the wages of sin," when God says today is the day of salvation! There is no "second chance" after this life, only the "second death." Read Hebrews 4:7; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:14.

Do not permit the enemy of your soul to deceive you into believing that salvation is by "works", it is written:

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, {9} not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Romans 10:13 For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."
It is Satan's objective to get all to worship him.

Peter I 5:8 Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour.

1Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

1Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by giving heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.

They peddle this in schools.

Principal in trouble over prayer breakfast endorsement
Bill Bumpas - OneNewsNow - 10/15/2010 4:45:00 AM
A school principal in California has filed a lawsuit against his school district, saying he's been punished and threatened with job termination for appearing in a video promoting a prayer breakfast to honor teachers.
Appearing in a video about prayer breakfast is horrible and illegal

Used to be they burned witches. Now reference in schools is the new witchcraft if a teacher mentions creation.
