An evangelist once told me in front of a pastor that I should obey the pastor,
right or wrong. I said, Brother, YOU are wrong. I still feel that way. Wrong is
wrong no matter whose mouth it comes out of. Truth is truth even if it comes
out of the mouth of a person, not of your persuasion.
My late pastor father would say,"Some will not accept truth, because they
don't like the source it comes from"!
Growing up, if something didn't sound right or different from what I had been
taught, I would look to my father. I had confidence in my earthly father as I
knew his prayer life and his study of the Word. I knew he had the Spirit in him.
Today I could go to many churches and not be affected by what I heard. I be-
lieve I could, as an adult, even hear some truth and be able to recognize it.
Doesn't mean I would embrace everything. Paul said when he was a child he
spoke as a child, he thought as a child, etc., BUT when he became a man
(when he grew up and matured, he put away childish things.
We must know the Word for ourselves and pray in the Holy Ghost. Then when
we hear something that isn't right, we can recognize it. We can also be able to
discern spirits.
