There is much in our history that we can regret. However, there are certain facts that also must be taken into account. 1) The native Americans were as vicious and brutal as any of the white men. 2) White men reproduced at a more prolific rate than those who were already here. 3) The genocide tended to be instituted by the government, or by individuals on the ground in the military (Custer and Chivington among others) 4) When they went to war, they made no distinction between young, old, man, or woman. Neither did some of our military leaders. 5) More than ethnicities were being fought over, but rather two very different ways of living and existing. Only one could survive.
This of course does not excuse the ones involved, but their sin lies on their own head.
